Kinda like the person the T/S is using as an example, huh? Single mother, in college, picking herself up by her boot straps...a story that isn't often heard, but happens none the less.

right. the threadstarter may have fucked up by presenting the wrong information regarding the scenario, which pretty much allowed yall to kill any credible points he had.

so you're saying even though T/S was wrong about his premise and proved so by just about everyone in this thread he's still got credible points to make somehow and we callously killed them simply by presenting facts?

yes.

lets completely remove the scenario regarding the lady who caught the felony for trying to better her situation.

so you're saying let's make up a scenario that doesn't exist that will better support the flawed premise of this thread?

the thing is my mother did the exact same thing with my sister and i when we lived in a shithole town and she took use to school in a much nicer town with a much better school system where my grandparents lived and paid taxes. she was also taking classes most of that time and working full time and not on any type of public assistance. it's basically the exact same story.

with that said - i should probably eliminate myself from this conversation because just by knowing first hand that T/S opinion is bullshit means that i can't possibly pretend that his points were valid simply by ignoring the details and assuming that someone that clearly has no knowledge of a situation is somehow qualified to speak on it.

all of talk of "its not that easy". "its not that simple"

no shit.

life is a beautiful struggle. if it were easy, we'd all be millionaires, fuckin only dimes and in VIP every weekend.

oh yeah, every nigga that posts in the IC already does that.

point is, we already know why it aint as easy. the question is, when are people going to say "fuck this life, i want better" and start DOING shit about it?

Man...

I guess you were at those Tea party rallies man.

no sir.

i just believe that my people can do better. even illegal immigrants is out here working twice as hard as the average bear.

All us niggers are the reason we dont got it I guess.

Maybe if we just dig in harder...we can lift ourselves up off our bootstraps.

Right. I am all about uplifting our people
Question: Are you in any way implying that those of us who haven't made it out of tough situations and all of us who are struggling are in that position because we don't make any effort to better ourselves? Our conditions negatively define each of us as individuals?

no maam. i am simply saying that i think if more of us took the steps necessary to pull ourselves out of our situation and encouraged each other, we could be in a better position as a whole.

i know its hard out here and nothing happens overnight. how ignorant would i be to not acknowledge that people ARE trying? im not saying that. im just saying that we gotta do better, whatever better is. We gotta do it. Our conditions, whether positive or negative, can define you. But its up to you to determine whether those conditions affect you either positively or negatively.

You had me at the highlighted, I concur.
It sounds great but why isn't the question that should be asked, how would be more progressive. We don't know everyone's circumstances so we can't possibly judge their position. However, finding a solution would better direct those brothers and sisters out there who want to make a positive change but don't necessarily have much guidance/direction or have any outlet to do so and they just aren't aware of the many that available to our youth.

The continuous complaining about our circumstances won't break any cycle.

Well this thread began with a story about a woman who was doing just that for her children and she got a capital F for her efforts.

You can't ignore the fact that no matter how hard some people try there is a system in place that just happens to work against them. It happens every day to all kinds of people on a higher and lower level but it's hard to ignore the fact that slaves were not allowed to read for a reason, crackers fought against public school integration for a reason and after that fought against bussing for a reason and now follow "certain" people home after school to bust them living in a different district for a reason. A lot of the endemic problems in some neighborhoods can easily be traced to the quality of education of the people that live there and grow up there.

I can appreciate the financial impact a move makes. I've moved 21 times in 13years. Twice across country.

I read/hear about poor districts and crime, drugs, and whatever urban dilemma plagues today's urban areas. I can't believe people continue to live in these places for extended periods of time, sometimes raising generations in the areas mentioned.

Why knowing its a toxic situation for you and your family would you continue to live there?

Now I know I'm white and your gonna say WTF do I know about being poor? A little. I'm thoroughly blue collar and never been well off. I'e worked for everything I have.

You might say I live in a suburb....so shut the fuck up. Well, let me pose this question...

Why when the poor families in question are on section 8, 40B, or any other type of social assistance, don't they move to a suburb and take advantage of those programs in a better city or district?

Take my city...Predominantly white, heavy Puerto Rican, Dominican etc... population. They have settledin quite nicely. Setting up their own cultural part of the city in their neighborhoods. Signs in spanish, cultural centers, etc... My city has NUMEROUS developments sprouting up and actually is going through a civic makeover. Affordable housing laws mean even though the market rate for units is TopTier there has to be a certain number of units deemed affordable. Why wouldn't you move into one of these places first chance you got?

My point is...they got fed up with living in sub par conditions and took advantage of the same programs they already use just in a better city.

Why isn't this a normal practice? It almost seems like it is a badge of honor to live in a shitty neighborhood.

The Ohio mom in jail for 10days for fraudlant enrollment in another school district is the reason I made this thread...why couldn't she just have moved to a better school district?

If you really what to help poor Black folks the best thing to do is to try and persuade your fellow white peeps to stop supressing the Black Community and using them only for their money and cultural contributions. You're not going to get anywhere talking to the poor who are oppressed. There is a ghetto in every city in America. This is not by accident. It's by design. It's called White Supremacy.

Public Housing, Private Frustration

HUD-Funded Housing Projects Wasted Money on Belly Dancers, Sex Offenders and Dead Residents

Even by Washington standards, $26 billion is a lot of money.

That’s the amount spent by taxpayers annually to provide housing for needy Americans. But there’s significant evidence that some of the monies have been poorly spent for years.

A joint investigation by ABC News and the Center for Public Integrity found that the Department of Housing and Urban Development has struggled to combat theft, corruption, and mismanagement in the more than 3,000 public housing agencies nationwide it funds, and particularly inside the 172 that HUD considers the most troubled.

The problems are widespread, from an executive in New Orleans convicted of embezzling more than $900,000 in housing money around the time he bought a lavish Florida mansion to federal funds wrongly being spent to provide housing for sex offenders or to pay vouchers to residents long since dead.

Despite red flags from its own internal watchdog, HUD has continued to plow fresh federal dollars into these troubled agencies, including $218 million in stimulus funds since 2009, the joint investigation found.

The ultimate victims of such mismanagement are impoverished Americans who rely on federally funded local public housing agencies to provide them with a clean, safe place to live.

“We’re failing these tenants, we’re failing the taxpayers,” said Kenneth Donohue, who recently retired as the HUD inspector general in charge of rooting out waste, fraud and abuse from the federal housing program.

Just ask the residents of public housing in Sanford, Fla., who for years tolerated crumbling units before finally being moved to new locations, or the occupants of public housing in New London, Conn., who became so frustrated by substandard living conditions that they went to court to demand that a judge name a receiver to manage their property.

1. OK, OK, OK..lets completely remove the scenario of mass genocide by the Nazi SS in Europe in the 1940s. Lets just completely take that out of the equation MKay?

Wasn't Anne Frank kinda wrong for running from the authorities? We need to stop these ad homiem attacks on the Nazis. I mean...duh, everybody knows if you run from the police and they catch you they're bringing a lot of murder & genocide with them. I mean...she kinda brought it on herself. Can we at least agree on that obvious point?

2. OK, OK, OK...lets completely remove the scenario about Nat Turner being enslaved, dehumanized, beaten, psychologically & physically tortured by his slave masters. Lets just remove that from the equation MKay?

Can't we all agree it was wrong for him to kill his slave masters just because he didn't agree with them? I mean...can we all just agree on that one point?

3. OK, OK, OK...Lets completely remove the scenario of inequality & racism in the U.S. and the need for protests & Sit-Ins during the Civil Rights Movement. Lets just take that inconvenient truth off the table...HEAR ME OUT PEOPLE!

Didn't those blacks deserve to be arrested for the "Sit-Ins?" I mean..it's kinda fucked up to go into somebody's place of business if you're not even gonna buy anything. Let's Completely ignore the fact they they weren't ALLOWED (!) to buy anything...I'm just saying. It's kinda rude. Sorry. They had it coming. The law's the law.

Same moron. Different screenname. Ya fukkin Clown.

lol at darc never missing an opportunity

anyway, from my basically deterministic perspective, i think people dont leave the hood because they were never trained in how to amass the resources you need to move a household

and i think a lot of these people are fatalistic. they figure they'll live and die in the hood and they can't change it.

but also blacks are lazy.

This right here is what I blame blacks in general for.

U cant blame crackers for this right here. THere is much blacks can do about this part of it. Fight for better schools, fight the justice system more so convicts can get a oppurtunity to get certifications/licenses after jail to build themselves up, be more politically active to get those things done. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO [cont]...
but also blacks are lazy
[cont] Ooooooooooooooo

Niggas got a defeatist attitude about shit. And yes, crackers invented laziness.

Every commercial with crackers in it is yall sitting on a couch watching sports in HD, laying in a bed or walking your dog in broad daylight on a weekday. *Rolls down window* GET TA WORK CRACKA!

And co-sign 85 percent of your post.
