Living Color Vs. Chappelle's Show

Fuck putting these two shows up against each other. they are both GOAT. tryin to pick which was better really isn't fair and shouldn't be done. jus let em be the two BEST sketch comedies of all time. Props to both shows

I loved Chappelle's Show but because In Living Color lasted longer it had more memorable skits and characters overall (Loomis Simmons, Frenchie, Fire Marshall Bill, Cephus and Reesie, Brothers Brothers, Homeboy Shopping Network, Homey The Clown, Anton Jackson, Dirty Dozens etc.)

ALL classic characters. shit. you didn't even mention Jamie Foxx as Carl The Tooth/Wanda, Men on Film, Damon Wayans as Oswald Bates (prison nigga who always used big words in the wrong sentence) the "Hey Mon" Jamaican family, Jamie and Tommy as the goofy bouncers, Funky Finger Productions and Handy man

Word or Sweet Tooth Jones or Calhoun Tubbs and the background guy aka my favorite Jim Carrey character, Candy Cane and also Keenan's Arsenio & Tyson impersonations. Just too much funny content on that show through the 5 seasons.

^^^ forgot about brother's brothers. That was hilarious when they would start singing, sounding like john Denver or some other super white singer.

That was actually the Smothers Brothers singing their songs. Smothers Brothers were actually some cool ass white guys who did a lot for the civil rights movement.

Living Color did not age well. I remember being excited when it was syndicated and I found most of it unfunny.

Also Chapelle was just comedy, but ILC had a way of addressing social issues but in a funny way where people were aware but not offended

Only thing Chapelle addressed was race, and he was actually just making light of the stereotypes people place on one another. He never really addressed anything. Homey D. Clown addressed the fact that white people expected blacks to assimilate to their way of life and he wasn't having it. Anton put a different light on homelessness. Handy Man actually empowered the handi-cap. Men on Film put homosexuality out instead of hiding it. Plus, ILC put rappers out there before it was pop music.

Chappelle Show is good but it aint touchin' In Living Color.

More variety, more memorable characters and uhh oh yea, their musical guests were actually at the show.


And they use to Ether the hell out of the Jacksons and other celebs.

I feel that don't make it better though even it did break new ground.

The first don't always equal the best.

Is SNL better because it came first? that's a sketch show as well.

We also gotta factor in that Chappelle was the sole star whereas ILC had multiple, of course there would be more variety, creativity.

And let's not act like the show didn't fall off when majority of OG cast left.

I'm not saying CS is better but its being relatively undervalued in here.

But i will say Chappelle>>>>>>>> any of them as comedians

of course it was not as good after all the Wayans left. thats a given. but it was still funny, jus not as funny. still had Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Tommy Davidson and Jim Carey.

Slave's son was tripping over how other dude was acting towards white people. Other dude was like, you been in a cave all this time, things have changed. Then they dude gets his ass kicked by the cops. Slave's son was like, guess things haven't changed that much. Deep.

Funny part when he was like, stop eyeballing that white woman! Damon and David broke character and lost it. Must have been ad-libbed.
