Lil Wayne's Best Album: Carter I, Carter II, or Carter III

C1= the game and radio took notice (go dj was everywhere)

C2= top tier MCs took notice

C3 = the world took notice

C1 and C2 are both classics imo, but BMJR is prolly my favorite track from all 3.

Mannie laced Wayne something serious on Tha Carter I. His lyrics were on point too. That album has the most replay value out of all his albums and mixtapes.

Bumping that shit last week, bruh.

Twenty-two's, thirty-eight's, forty-four's, forty-five's

Tucked in my thirty-eight, mack on my back I am

So ready for whateva that awaits me,

Run up in your place wile you're sleepin await the

Calicoes, ak's, Uzi-machines,

Got ya misplacin your arms and losin your knees

I am takin names, so who wanna leave

Out this bitch with your brains and your dew on your sleeve?

Feet by the engine head by the transmission

I Miss My Dawgs is a banger. I never forget when Wayne performed that live in front of BG. That shit was epic. BG was dissing Wayne too. Then when Sqad Up broke up BG was dissing them niggas defending Wayne afterwards. That shit wasn't just a song afterwards.

lol @ new Wayne still being dope

Nah fam

I seriously struggle to listen to long periods of Wayne outside of those 3 albums and Like Father, Like son(highly slept on)

Wanna know the difference between new Wayne and Young Thug? Thug is better...Wayne had an amazing run(top 5 maybe 3) and an equally dramatic fall off

and him still having support doesn't speak to the quality of the music...bring it up has nothing to do skills

Offline his diminished quality of music is noticed as well

Carter 1 no skippable songs Manny Fresh production and Birdman Jr goat song

Facts on Facts

I ain't tripping nigga, I play the corner like Ripkin nigga

With the 40 cal ripkin nigga, rip a nigga

Flip ya vehicle, split ya windshield

Wack ya Baby momma but I let the kid live

And people say that I am a kid still, cause the lil nigga still rides on big wheels

You feeling animal then come on and get killed

And see I peel bandannas like bananas

Say I'm slight bananas I blow a weekend in Havana

In my cabana with my bottom bitch from savanna

Man a train couldn't stop ya man

I man up and you not a man

I stand up, say I got my land

I'm the man of my land

Call it lil-weezy-ana [Louisiana] ... Thats the new plan

Carter 1 was definitely an unbelievable album. It ushered in a "new Wayne", if you will. I was in the AF when it dropped and I remember thinking, "Da fuck?! This nigga is goin in." I followed Hot Boyz, and Lil Wayne by association, when I was in HS, so I had Tha Block Is Hot and Lights Out, and played them frequently.

But C1 had him sounding reinvigorated over dope production, even though I remember niggas saying he borrowed Jay/Young Chris' flow for some of it. (There are traces of their influence, but he added some other shit and made it his own.)

But I always felt like C2 was the culmination of everything coming together perfectly for Wayne. That nigga was spitting at his highest level, the production was on point, and even though he had breakout songs on the jawn, it still felt gritty and uncompromising. That nigga was lit on that shit. My favorite project from ol' boy.

Tha Carter 1-3 is the best consecutive albums of all time. No rapper has that many Classic albums back to back to back. Each album is better than the last displaying Waynes growth into a top ten GOAT.

Top 5 hip hop duos of all time.

5. Dame Dash and Jay-z

4. Method Man and Redman

3. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre

2. Birdman and Lil Wayne

1. Suge and Pac

C1 was a perfect follow up for all the work he was doing with the Sqad Up tapes. Those tapes announced his skill to the world. Showing his commitment to being the best rapper he can be. Carter 1 pulled it together in an album.

Knowing the story behind Carter 1 elevates it a bit for me. That album single-handedly saved Cash Money. With no Juve, no B.G. or Turk, they needed Wayne to deliver or it was over. Mannie explained they talked about how big this album needed to be. How he'd make a beat and say it's better than Wayne's raps. Wayne would redo his verses. Mannie would hear his verses and rework the beat. C1 was a fourth quarter comeback performance in the playoffs and the last Cash Money album to sound like a Cash Money album.
