I think you have to cater to your fan-base and their overall intellect so you dont go over their head and alienate them.

Sometimes you have to dumb-it-down, especially Pop-orientated artists like LiL Wayne who sell the majority of their albums to white teenage girls from suburbia.

You dont have to use "big words" but 3 & 4 letter words is kinda an insult to people who graduated kindergarten.
