Criminally, the equivalance to any great white hype. Ima start calling him The Great New York Hype.

Name an MC that can tell stories like;

10 Crack Commandments

I Got A Story To Tell

Niggas Bleed

Real Niggas Do Real Things

^^^ Most rappers can't rap on that level.

Slick Rick>>>

Biggie's discography >>> Slick Rick's discography

Not imo *shrug

Slick Rick only dropped one masterpiece and a bunch of forgettable shit afterwards.

Nah, the art of storytelling album was dope also

Nosign.

When his debut album came out, it was one of the better albums of 1988.

You can't say The Art of Storytelling was one of the better albums of 1999. It didn't even have a hot single.

The Great Adventures of Slick Rick had Children's Story, Hey Young World, Teenage Love, Mona Lisa, Lick The Balls

You can compare The Great Adventures Of Slick Rick to either of Biggie's albums, but that's where it stops. if you want to compare his other albums, you'd have to name the hot singles/club bangers that compare to Juicy, Who Shot Ya, Big Poppa, Hypnotize, Sky's the Limit, Mo Money Mo Problems, 10 Crack Comandments, etc.

No way in hell is Slick Rick's discography seeing Biggie's.

All I said was I liked the album, you done typed all that irrelevant shit for nothing smh

BP is a memorable album, but LAD has too many classics. Plus, I give extra credit for making a classic double album which Jay wasnt able to do (BP2). The production on BP is legendary, but LAD is lyrically superior.

Life After Death is better.

Blueprint had some nice joints yea it's a classic, but LAD is a Landmark in Hip-Hop history.

Biggie went in on LAD.

Biggie Smalls Is The Illest.

Fuck it I'll be that guy.... The only reason this album is held to such high regards is becuz it came out right after he died... That don't mean its not a classic or a great album but this album is getting the "after death bump up".... Niggas talking bout song cry, heart of the city, never change, rulers back, lyrical excerise, or renegade aren't even on the level of 10 crack commandments foh

The only reason Blueprint gets so much hype is because of the Nas beef, but when you really take a look at the album you see that the star of the show was the production, Kanye and Just Blaze was entering their primes at the time, Life after death had production just as good if not better and BIG was spitting some hot shit, sure the sales of the album was boosted by biggies death but that cannot take away from the fact the album is pure quality, oh and that h to the izzo track is weak for the single, Blueprint isn't even better than Stillmatic (maybe musically but from an mc standpoint fuck no)

My nigga listen to niggas bleed again, slick Rick is a good story teller but not on Niggas bleed level.when Big went from calling Gloria Glo was game over for me... Did you see how Big described Arizona Ron? The dude with the nothing to lose tattoo on his arm? Did you see the rhymes? The flow? Common man

How this shit become about Slick Rick & Big... Anyways, Life After Death is the better album. The Blueprint is still a classic. This thread was a waste of time.

And I disagree with your statement that all Slick Rick's music after his first album are forgettable. The Great Adventures of Slick Rick >>> Ready to Die too

I think it stands on its own. That nigga flow on long kiss goodnight was out of this world. The way the story played in the background on somebody got to die, the production was top notch and big was in pocket the whole shit. It aged like Ridin dirty if you ask me. Blueprint was more tuned to the times. It was Jay vs Nas, it was Jay solidifyin his spot, Kanye and Just Blaze's comin out party, the roc beginning to peak. BIG had more timeless joints on LAD, and I'd give the production nod to LAD too because of the mixing was better IMO. Sound was super crispy.

Without google how many albums did he drop and name them. Go.

That whole talk about life after death or even 7 day theory being hyped cause their deaths are weak. If it was true, the hype would've been dead or atleast dying but yet 20 years later they still as acclaimed as they first were

I didn't see any hype for Easy E's 1996 album and that was after he died, Yeah Baby by Pun got no hype, Big L's album, Proof's album, Pimp C's album. But let them tell it, Life After Death was only critically acclaimed because he died.
