Different tactics you can chose if you wanna get big:

1. Get shot

2. Shoot someone, from there build your streetrep

3. Become close to shooters so that you can claim to be a part of that life

4. Be in the presence of people getting shot

5. Pretend like you've been shot, know shooters or shot people

Best of luck

Understand the business and that success is more hustle than skill.

Make sure those hooks are tight and people can sing along to 'em.

Find flows that allow you to showcase lyrical dexterity while being catchy enough for people to rap along to.

Make sure you're clear in your enunciation and delivery.

Dope beats.

This.

Also: A GO-TO PRODUCER IS THE FOUNDATION OF A SUCCESSFUL RAP CAREER. Shop around till you find one that you vibe well and who isn't taxing you with beat prices.

Four people that a up and coming rapper should be on a good basis with are: A cinematographer, a photographer, a graphic designer and a sound engineer. Why? Because these are the people that are integral in polishing your products to a quality standard. People recognize an attention to detail /"quality" and will be more inclined to give someone a listen if the presentation of their product looks as if they give a damn. Niggas be trying to sell mixtapes with fucking old school no limit pen and pixel esque album covers FOH.

And the thing is nowadays, you can get all four of these services for cheap, especially near college campuses.

Hard Work is more important than talent ,Intelligence on how to be successful in the Music game is the most intricate part, I have seen cats work hard as hell but don't know what the fuck to do after and I've also met people who know what to do but don't work hard enough

But if want to be successful Nationally/Worldwide I suggest sort of model you music after Drake,Kanye and T.I for those three have really good formulas and Production might I add

Ima tell you this...it's 365 days in a year...you should have 365 songs on the street or recorded....niggas fail to realize how you have to record and record...niggas get so caught up on making that "one" track and try and shop that mugg around...they forget that they gotta keep recording..

I got a cat down here...
dude made a nice local song...got some airplay...but that was it..he was too busy banking on that "one" song and CD he made..trying to shop that shit around...he didn't have nothing else to follow up with...

I'm like dude you drop a cd or mixtape with some bangers on it...next month come at them with another fire ass mixtape...now u got two on the streets..one thats new and one that folks may still be listening too....now you start doing shows...you have enough songs to where if you get a gig..u can put on a show and shit...with songs....instead of just doing "one" song and doing songs that nobody has ever heard of...

u gotta keep putting out "quality" music

and listen to your shit....take yourself out of being a rapper and become that average nigga off the street who you are giving your cd too..and ask yourself can you listen to this cd 4 or 5 times...be honest with yourself...if the shit wack be true to yourself and say..mayne that song and beat is wack as fuck...I don't see nobody listening to this track..that's the important...admittin when and if your shit is wack...

Also give your mixtape out for free...niggas will listen to something for free more so than they would if they paid for it...meaning if I give u 5 dollars of my money and if I skim the first two songs on your cd and they wack..Im pissed the fuck off and i'm prolly chuncking yo shit out the window..but if you gave me yo shit for free...I'm skim and listen to the whole thing and see what you got to say...

1. Authenticity
2. Look for a lane that's not occupied
3. Don't use gimmicks or jump on trends, that only last for so long (See all those crunk and snap music rappers)
4. Try to have your own producers or produce yourself, it's important to have your own sound
5. Don't wait for a label to get you hot, get hot yourself so when you do go to a major you have more creative control

Also...subject matter...talk about things that your audience wants to hear...

Like Boosie...is heavy down here...nigga talks about...life and struggles...racism...getting money....street-life shit..becuz his crowd/audience can relate to that shit...some may think dude is wack...becuz of the songs he put out on the radio..but dive deep into the dude's catalog...dude spitting some real shit and I'll say he isn't the best or near the best MC as far as spitting but him talking about things on records is what folks can appreciate...

Have a rhythm...don't just rap....ride the beat on some bars...nigga don't wanna hear u just spitting...bring some soul to the track... u know..make a nigga feel what you're saying u know..

Big Krit is a good example...on the his song he has called.."The Vent" and it's another song he has out talkin about his grandmother...he says "if I had wings...wings wings..I'll fly away"" it's not what he said..it's how he said those lines...with soul...u know bring that into your craft

Don't go up to DJs asking them to play yo shit...only dj you should ask to play your song is a dj outta the strip club...use them djs first to get your shit played...and make the approprate song for them to play...make them come to you or your street team to get yo shit played

being from the hood/streets has been a disadvantage for me, since I represent something positive. It's hard for some people to understand that positive minds come from the streets/hood. Some people are brainwashed to believe in only the negative stereotypes as being hood. They don't understand that people like me were tired of seeing the people with low ambition no motivation in life get the hood/street cred, for being losers. This is what people like myself are against. See those folks had got too comfortable with not being shit and blaming it on the hood. The ones who are broke, smoking weed all day, droppin out of school, sitting around the hood gossiping. See people had given these type of people too much hood cred(back in the day) and therefore it created a movement against that mentality. (and I am part of that movement) However coming from very negative situations with a positive mind have caused conflict. & some cases some even want me to change my approach when I already got street respect standing for what I stand for. It's no need for me to change to be accepted. I don't feel I should downgrade myself to appeal to a fanbase who want to only glorify statistics. That's going backwards in my opinion.

The infatuation of my city has also been a problem. (oh no this can't be a person from Baltimore) it's like now it's too many people who think they know about my city thru the wire and the corner, these people are in complete denial when they meet the real characters. What they got u thinking you just get shot up for entering the city? I mean everywhere has a code. It's still a lot of life here and houses. I don't really see it the way people on the outside see it, because I'm from here, so I don't know why some are in so much denial I come from Baltimore.

& then my conflict with some new yorkers. Baltimore has always conflicted with new york when it came down to hood, because new york hood mentality is a project mentality, and Baltimore mentality is a BLOCK mentality.

see there is alot of people from the block with money and we own houses. We are offended by fuck the hood statements. Maybe these people are trying to express the low lives. However people like myself is trying to express being from the hood isn't about being a low life. In these days and times that do not even get respect anymore. People from the hood are tired of being stero-typed as a low life, and ppl are kicking that shit out the streets.
