Lets face it from 00 and onwards Kanye has been the GOAT.

From '04-present, you have a point. In '00, Kanye was just starting to make waves as a producer. By '01, people were just realizing, "oh, okay this dude is consistent and potentially could be one of the next great producers". He was still solidifying himself as one of the potential greats from '02-'03. He didn't really come into his own until '04.

In terms of consistency and quality of music, then yes, he's the best rapper from '04-present. I'm not sure that he will reach Big and Pac or even Jay and Nas level of greatness though. People don't seem to take him that seriously as a lyricist. For him to get that level of acclaim, it's possibly going to take an excellently produced album that features only Kanye without the corny one-liners. A more Def poetry type Kanye that recalls "All Falls Down", "Never Let Me Down", "Spaceship", basically most of College Dropout lyrically.

I dont put Kanye in the Pac,Jay,Nas,Big category. He is too average of a rapper plus he has an advantage od being a producer. However is is a great producer and artist, just not a great mc. Kanye doesnt excel at any technical aspect of being a mc to me.

Or even? Smh.

Also, a lot of people don't take Pac that serious as a lyricist, but people still put him in the top 5.

It's Nas. You can change to time period all you want

Soon as I read the title I said you can take all these niggas in the game and throw em in a time machine (past, present, muthafuckin future cus these niggas is getting dumber by the day) and Nas will destroy any one of em. Good to know after giving up on hip hop for damn near a year now there are still real heads out there.

WTF is wrong with you? You answered your own question.

All day long man, we back in town

Yea Nas is nowhere near him in that decade when he was slaying the King of New York.

Ye influenced/pushed Jay-Z to experiment with a more popish sound/collaborators. And being associated with Kanye gave Jay-Z more legitimacy as some sort of hip hop figurehead. Post Graduation, Kanye has really displayed his ability to sell his sound internationally and I think Jay realized that and in turn, modified his scope to reach internationally as well.

Kanye is great artist but far from GOAT. I'm not even sure he writes his own stuff all of the time.

Either way he's not the most talented lyrically which is a big factor to me. I'll take Nas or Jay's stuff from 2000 onwards over Kanye's stuff. To me 808's was unlistenable and his last effort was good but not a classic.

we all no that radio play is biased and based on payola... so based on what the radio and mtv play, i could see that argument holding some weight in a conversation filled with mtv and radio groupies.

but in real life my friend, kanye is a mediocre rapper with not much substance,

so....goat? absoltely not. top 10 rappers of 2000's--- maybe.

top 50 rappers of all time..... maybe

I'm not going to say he's the GOAT but if hip hop was a sky spacer, he'd be on the top floor. He's not the only one up there though.

A "Sky Spacer" homie??? ROFL...

He's both a producer and rapper, so to make an argument as the GOAT since 2000, you have to separate his catalogue between his production (an argument can certainly be made as GOAT since 2000), but as a rapper? No way.

Since 2000, Jay-Z's put out The Dynasty: Roc La Familia, Blueprint 1, 2, 3, The Black Album, and Kingdom Come, and was the better half of Watch the Throne.

Nas put out Stillmatic, God's Son, The Lost Tapes, Street Disciple, Hip Hop Is Dead, and Life is Good

Even Ghostface put out: Supreme Clientele, Bulletproof Wallets, Fishscale, More Fish, and The Big Doe Rehab

Eminem's put out: The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show, Encore, and Recovery

And there are plenty of other discographies since 2000 that contain plenty of dope rap material. (You have to separate the rapping ability from the production).

Point is, there's plenty of material to compare with Kanye's discography.

He's been good. But I wouldn't put him as GOAT. There's too much dope shit to compare

Nigga has impact and will be in the game long enough to make a lasting impression. Why is that ? Because he stays consistent and fresh each and every album while other niggas overuse the same formula that made em successful in the first place. And if you look at other rappers who however have changed , did they change for the better ? Mostly no, Lil Wayne went from being the background kid in Hot Boyz to designing skater clothes while not knowing the slightest shit about skating. And yall niggas saying that Kanye does this high-fashion shit just to impress white folks.

I don't know what's whiter , luxury-high fashion or skating ?
