one time offer for all you aspiring rappers: for a modest one time fee of $10,000, i will play your record. for a simple $12,000 i will drop bombs on it.

make your offers quick though, i gotta pay off the game tonight for letting me co-host his mixtape and thus getting me in good favor with the west again after that messy tupac incident.

Only problem I have is when people try to trick you into listening to their music ("unreleased video of jay beating nas up" is actually their bullshit song) or keep posting shit nobody is interested in to the point it's ridiculous (that whole cartel family bullshit)

Cosign this thread 100%. Most of them are completely trash, and the other ones aren't better than what's out there now so, what's the point? Why would I buy your shit, or sign you if you can't seem to find a way to stand out from the rest of the rejects.

Well considering the quality of music currently being released commercially, can u honestly blame them for thinking they have a chance?

If that what someone wanna do and they believe in their self keep doing it, it' like someone telling someone they can't cut it at acting or sports why keep trying. if you fail your gonna tell yourself when it's time to give it up

If you do rap, and you plan on taking it serious... PLEASE KNOW HOW MUCH YOU'RE GOING TO SPEND!!! I cant stress this enough. niggas think cause they can rap they supposed to get a check. no nigga. you have to spend money to make money. all those producers out there, spend money on good equipment/programs (unless you can get FL Studio cracked) Even then, you have to buy or search hard as fuck for great plug-ins.

Don't come in thinking you're needed. Make yourself needed. What I mean by that is, work hard and smart as fuck at what you do, and you'll get noticed. It also helps to network. I got cool with niggas who didnt even know I made beats/mixed songs and shit. Once they found out I did that I was able to get some shit lined up for the future. So yeah. You can make it, just be realistic in your expectations.

When I say NETWORK. I dont mean spamming links or telling folks to listen to your music. Build a relationship with your potential fanbase. talk to them about sports, hoes, clubs, video games, whatever... Look at it like this, if you were at the gas station, and a nigga ran up on you and put his mixtape in your pocket, what would you do? I'd take that bitch OUT my pocket, and frisbee that shit with the quickness. Then duff the nigga for being a pest. Learn how to approach people.

AND DONT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB UNLESS YOU MAKING 50K+ ON MUSIC ALONE

lol

no

but thats what i mean though.
hip hop aint like other forms of music that are judged on technicalities. anyone can hop up and do it. and wether you like it or not,who cares. cuz all the performer cares about is that someone is paying them.
me and a thousand other hip hop purist/elitist/nerds can scram how terrible oj/waka/gucc etc are,but it doesnt matter. they still sell out shows and there will be 1000 more waiting to replace them.

the thing is,
some folks have shitty sound quality
some folks have theeee worst album/mixtape covers
some folks have the simplest FL studio beats that sound like facet leaks & trashcan banging
some folks call non-rhyming stream of consciousness talking rapping

and they get mad when you say they wack...or even get mad when you dont bow down and give mad props

i mean,to those that got something, but jus not "IT",,, i would never say give up,cuz one day you jus might get it.
but to all those who fll in those "some foks" category, this thread is for you

funny because its true

i jus went to guitar center friday with my thrift-savings-plan budget

i tried my best to not buy all the necessary equipment.
then i went home, tried to get my shit started,,,,and realized IM GONNA HAVE TO BUY ALL THAT SHIT I TRIED TO SKIM ON

sure i bought the shit,
but its a lesson learned in why you must keep your "REAL" job....cuz somehow you gotta pay for all the shit your gonna need eventually.
