consistency isnt about subject material though.
yeah nas switched up to the jewels and hate me now records, but all his albums have a dose of creativity.
a dose of heartfelt hood shit. a pro black perspective. some story telling as well as some of the usual rah rah braggadoccio shit.
yeah nas has 1 maybe 2 classics (alot of people like it was written and most hip hop fans i know own it)
nas and eminem both changed subject matter as they got older as it should be but on ems first and second albums he had his creative subject tracks. his singles (those don't count for harsh criticism) his stories and his straight spittin
but like wit nas when he did shit like rewind (a story track and a concept) em went on to do some retarded shit. its opinion but i couldnt fuck wit that sayin weird shit jus to say weird shit.
to me he really started fallin into that lazy mode which was more annoying because i've seen the concepts em was capable of.
i also didnt hold it against em for dressing weird or anything, just for being lazy with it.
its like em either got comfy or disinterested in the rap game
any nigga that is a fan of em knows the potential is there (even non fans have to admit the talent) but the nigga dead ass phoned it in and made aloooooooooot more filler tracks than gems.
like i said. busta rhymes
what you put in bold all makes me point. 1. Nas has always talked about those things...so that's consistent to who he is, or who we all know of him, and his subject matter as always been that way he's never change once he started talking about the jewels and everything else. he spits what he's been spitting...you saying all his albums have a dose of creativity? "one mic", "book of rhyme" and "rewind" i forgot the name of the joint but it's the joint he spit the story backwards...and i cant remember which album that was on..but 1. the albums those joints were on, werent classic, 2. had alot of forgetable tracks on there...and all the other ish..heartfelt hood shit, black perspective, storytelling...again is consistent to who he is and what he's always spit about (and love him as an artist for that) but that's what or why you and a his fans look for an a artist--and one thing i can say Nas doesnt do well if you wanna talk about versatility is..the down south flow/bone thugs in harmony flow and rhyme pattern that many a rapper has done...Nas attempts at those were ok not really that well....and there's one joint i think it was on godson, i liked...but it still it wasnt done that well.
em..stays consistent to who he is, and i will agree he's gotten lazy, alot of artist have done that i.e. busta rhymes..i stop buying an em album after the eminem show...but just like nas, and this is only an example, and nothing against nas and nor am i saying em is better..just using nas as an example..
u said nas drops creative ish...em did "3am"--which you might not be a fan of the joint because of the subject matter..but the rhyme scheme was creative, and there was a story telling in there. and it was in his "lazy era" as well. so that's two things you said nas is still able to do, that i highlighted that em still did.,
& you talked about nas with his heart felt ish, black perspective...again and i stop buying his(em's) albums..em still had heart felt ish...you may not have listened to them for whatever your reason were, or they felt out werent good anymore (and that's believable) and he was spitting ish from his life and his perspective again...u may not have listen to them for whatever your reasons were didnt like them..
"lighters", and "airplanes part II" all came from what he went throught and was in his "lazy era"
like i said before...it's all becomes subjective when u strip it all done.
and bootybutta or whatever you name is..that's about all the attention you're gonna get from me, a sentence!
