Marlon's a better actor than mfs give him credit for , but he wasnt right for this role. Pryor had a darkness to him that I think Epps has aswell.

He wasn't bad. Marlon got typecast as a goofy nigga, not a FUNNY nigga but as a GOOFY nigga and it's damn near impossible to take him seriously. He wasn't bad though, not at all.

Which is a shame considering goofy muhfuckas like Jim Carrey can do serious movies and still be taken seriously.

Literally the last 3 roles most people remember him from is White Girls, Wayans Bros, and the ngga from Scary Movie. He has a handful of projects in 10 years. You cang go from that to this.

Jim Carey worked up to that serious level with various movies, so did Robin Williams, so did Mike Epps! First Dreamgirls, then a full on dark role with zero humor in Repentance
