LCD Soundsystem Announce New Album American Dream, World Tour
Finally: James Murphy details the reunited group’s first album in 7 years
LCD Soundsystem have announced their new album. James Murphy and company will release new LP American Dream, their first since 2010’s This Is Happening, on September 1 via Columbia/DFA. As expected, it features both “Call the Police” and “American Dream,” the pair of tracks released in May and performed on “Saturday Night Live.” At the end of May, Murphy wrote on Facebook that “the lacquers are winging their way to the pressing plant” and that he’d been “wrangling the fastest route between final mix and record release.” He added that it would be the final LP recorded at the original DFA studios. The band have also announced a world tour including yet another residency at Brooklyn Steel this December. Check out the dates below, along with the LP tracklist.
This past weekend saw the band return to Brooklyn Steel for their second residency at the venue—the final show of the run is on June 24. Earlier this month, new reissues of several LCD Soundsystem albums were announced to be coming via Rhino. The band pushed back on the reissue series, saying they had “no idea” it was happening and urging fans to “just buy from DFA.”
LCD Soundsystem will headline Pitchfork Music Festival 2017 with A Tribe Called Quest and Solange. The festival takes place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 14–16.
