Late Registration gets my vote because it's everything that critics painted MBDTF out to be. MBDTF is a great album, but it's more pretentious and less organic than Late Registration. With Late Registration, Kanye didn't simply just try to push the envelope, he did it. He didn't have to market the album as something that was ground breaking or revolutionary, the music spoke for itself.

With this album, Kanye proved that he wasn't a fluke as an artist. He proved that he could take what he was great at (looping up soul) and expand upon it. He not only proved that, but he proved that he could be successful while doing it. The album was packed with great music:

Crack Music

Roses

Heard Em Say

Touch The Sky

Diamonds

Bring Me Down

Gone

Late

IMO, this is Kanye's best album.

Couldn't agree more with this statement. Kanye went off on this album.

What makes me upset is it came naturally in those days. When he talked about his album in that BBC One interview, he talks like that was child's play and that MBDTF was him making "perfect" just cause he could. He makes Yeezus sound like it's the album that's breaking boundaries and tearing down walls for hip hop.

Bullshit.

Kanye went as hard as he could on Late Registration and THAT is the album that really pushed Hip Hop. No gimmicks, no bullshit, just Hip Hop at its finest. He has not repeated this feat since...
