I read that that Nas had lines about Big Pun hitting Jay Z with a bottle on the other version of Ether, but Fat Joe asked him to take it off

Lol @ I don't buy it. Yall also don't buy that Jay recorded a diss verse for Nas on the Oh Boy Remix and Cam made him take it off because it was wack as fuck too huh?

Word it's a conspiracy. Scarface, Swizz Beats, Large Pro and everyone around just making shit up because Nas came up with some intricate plan to manipulate listeners minds even though he already was declared winner of the battle unanimous decision.

When was this?

Maybe there was a more vicious version of Ether, we'll never hear it though, so I couldn't care less about the shit.

When I say unanimous it's not in the literal sense. Of course most big Jay fans and Nas fans believe their rapper won but the consensus among unbiased listeners is Nas won the rap battle. My point is there is no reason for everybody to make up some corroborating story about other verses that were made when it's already agreed on that Nas won the battle.

Nas once said there was suppose to be a track on Gods son where he really went at everybody but he said they got rid of it to make sure it didnt leak.
yes I remember that..

The battle should have really looked like this:

Ether original version vs. Takeover with all verses dedicated to Nas

Shit would have been even more epic. But fuck all that bruh its 2013

Uuuugh this jayz takeover "facts" myth but I digress from igniting a redundant debate. 97 could of put ether against takeover and the results woulda been the same,Blaze talking about "unfair"? Jay had a whole radio station riding with him in his favor dedicating a entire show to takeover, they even tried to rig the votes. It was a very skillful and wise choice on Nas's part to go with ron browz beat oppose to a hype beat by swizz cause it made his lyrics stand out more and hit even harder. He proved that if your in a battle and your pen game sharp enough you dont need a hot sample or catchy hook for fans to sing along to if you move strategically knowing how to use whatever your opponent throws at you against him that alone can put you on top and all those other fancy elements into constructing a battle record wont even cease to exist. Nas been able to stand the test of time cause he has always been keen in doing things his way since his debut the rest is history.

Vicious doesn't mean good or better. . It could just mean more vulgar.. yall actin like yall heard it and know its goat.. I looked at nas diss history and he just doesn't go hard.. cam calls disses his moms.. jay leaves condoms on Destiny baby seat and the hardest nas goes is "chicks called you ugly"? I'm sorry I didn't livr in new york but in philly we thought ether was just "aight".. look at all the diss songs and radio freestyles in the diss era.. it was bars all iver the place.. ether was light to us.. I'm still smh at why hov was mumblin like a bitch over it.. maybe the climate was different in NY when ether came out.. then again we didn't have radio stations slurping the shit and having polls after just 2 diss songs

Word. I love both MC's & songs but niggas act like Ether was just an entire song with nothing but him clowning like he wasnt saying shit about the stabbing, him getting chased down etc etc.

First, emcees record tracks and go back and change the lyrics all the time. Some of you act like its impossible that Nas had a different version of Ether.

Second, when Big Daddy Kane dissed Rakim on "Set It Off", Rakim recorded a full diss track on Kane, but we didnt hear it cause after word got back to Kane how career ending the track was he called up Rakim and apologized before the track was released. The public never got to hear the track. But that doesnt mean that the track didnt exist either.

Someone was talking about this, Rakim or BDK wouldn't discuss it but someone else did and I forgot who.

Don't forget, Jaz-O gave Nas a lot of the personal info he used for ether ('chased in ya building')

So imo, Nas had so much dirt on Jay that it made the original song cluttered, and not a better or more etherous song. Sometimes less is more.
