Krs One- only Rakim might be better and that debatable. 20 plus year career. superlegend. Pretty much invented modern hip hop along with Rakim. Helped perfect gangsta rap (9mm go bang). Put hip hop reggae on the map. One of the only 80's rappers who still sound good today. in his prime (when canibus was calling out ll, not him) was almost unbeatable battle wise. Ended MC Shan's career. Went gold and platinum numerous times. Respected by Lil Wayne, Kanye, 50 Cent, other post 2000 rappers.

Canibus- no career, no classic albums, cant buy a record that sells. had to join the army to clear his head smh. Got took out by LL (I need Love) Cool J. Biggest contribution is influencing Cassidy I guess

Nelly- wasnt even the best rapper in his crew. One to two hit wonder. Had to turn to sportscasting. Latest album went nowhere. Anybody who aint know about KRS until Nelly (2000) must have been born in 1990 smh....

hate him if you want but the facts speak for themselves. Nelly and Canibus will be side notes in rap history, KRS will always stand tall no matter the amount of hate thrown his way.

Nelly might not be in the spotlight anymore but he clearly influenced many artists while KRS One is rapping for spare change as we speak. KRS 1 is also a sell out , he rapped about guns , violence and money in a song . There is a thread about it just do the digging.

KRS might not even be known but he's still overrated. KRS 1 dissing Nelly for speaking the truth was the most bitchassest move of the century. Nelly was #1 at that time and you can't dispute that.

Yeah.....what my my reason heads.......good thread Mumo X........KRS ONE.....imo......is the best Emcee........I got mad respect for the teacher......I met him a couple of times in the Brooklyn Public Library when he was advocating for children to read and stuff.......he also came to my school to give a lecture on Hip Hop History and culture......by the way.......His latest album is slept on.......Sneak attack was another slept on album that I recommend for real hip hop heads to listen to.

Thanks for Sharing Uolag. Krs should be a lock in most top 5s but since he kicks knowledge, doesnt hop onto the latest trend and has refused to sell-out he gets looked down upon. Smh!! Emcees like Krs should be revered and held in high regard, he should be able to sell out stadiums...for real, Hiphop lost if we cant respect the emcees that laid the foundation for the culture. Sometimes being lyrical is overated. Whilst important it aint everythn. Pac wuznt lyrical but no one wil ever touch him. Same to Krs. Why would i listen to the so called lyrical Emcees like Eminem,Jay,Big who sound repetitive and hav a weak subject matter instead of Bumpin to Nas,Krs,Pac,Wu-Tang who can make me think and at the same time be entertained... Subject matter/Musical Content is very important. Thats why Bob Marley, Marvin Gaye, Lennon are GOATs in they respective genres. Only in hiphop where emcees who glorify drugs, Promote misogyny & homo rap and disrespect the culture are crowned GOAT.
