Don't know if he can keep this up....Kobes generally starts out the season in some sort of hot streak. All that matters for the Lakers is the playoffs though, lets see what the mamba has in store then.

Kobe is ballin hard this season like a man on a mission... It'll be interesting to see if his body can take it for the entire season

Well considering most guards in their 14th season were probably 2 or 3 years older than what Kobe is right now, it's not as impressive as people are making it seem.

How is that not impressive being that he's faced more NBA competition? NBA has longer more grueling seasons than college basketball + postseason appearances. It actually is MORE impressive

He's been in the league longer than most players that came before him, so he's had a longer time in the NBA to reach certain milestones and he's younger while doing certain things than players before him. Why is that so hard to understand? Add to that the fact that the league is generally regarded as being more offense friendly than it's ever been and it's simply not as impressive as you guys are making it. I'm not saying he's not play well. But it's not some earth shattering accomplishment. It's as stupid as all the "Youngest player to..." achievements they always make a big deal out of for players that come straight from high school.

you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in anysport at playin at this high of a level @ 16 years all of those youngest player records are meaningless pop stats so who really cares as far as those type of things are concerned

the whole premise of the thread is retarded.. i really dont listen to anything this dude says.. but just speaking on the level of play soley...

The point is that he's been in the league 16 years but he's still only in his mid 30s. This level of play at his age is good don't get me wrong, but it's not unprecedented which is what the T/S is trying to insinuate.

Athletes are faster, stronger, bigger, and.more athletic. Now than when Jordan played

Kobe being able to score how he has in his 16th season against great athletes is impressive

Jordan played against guys that weren't as athletically gifted

We all saw what happened to Jordan once he met the new breed of athletes

Not to.mention Jordan couldn't win without Scottie Pippen

He won nothing before Scottie and nothing after him
Umm he was 38 and still avg 20 a game....what are you saying

Aint a whole lot of the guys playing today that are more athletic than the ballers of the mid 80's to early 90's, FOH. The rest of this shit is pure nonsense.

3 peat championship years, playoffs only
Shaq 29.9ppg, 55.2%fg, 14.5reb, 3.0ast, 2.4blk, 12.2 win shares, 3.7 defensive win shares, 8.5 offensive win shares, and only 553 missed shots....
Kobe Bryant 25.3ppg, 44.7%fg, 5.7reb, 4.9ast, 1.1blk, 8.5 win shares, 2.5 defensive win shares, 5.8 offensive win shares, and a whopping 654 missed shots.
Kobe missed 101 more shots than Shaq during the 3 peat championship years

In 99-2000, Kobe missed 16 games, the Lakers went 12-4 without him.
In 2000-2001 Kobe missed 14 games, the Lakers went 11-3 without him.
In 2001-2002 Kobe missed 2 games, the Lakers went 2-0 without him.
The championship Lakers teams seemed barely affected by the absence of Kobe.

People often like to bring up the 55 win season the Bulls had while Jordan retired the first time. What people never talk about is the fact that Pippen, Grant, Armstrong, and Kukoc all scored in double figures that season. They also fail to mention the following:
Team record in games missed
Michael Jordan: 19-49 (.279)
86: 18-43
89: 0-1
92: 0-2
93: 1-3
Even the world champion Bulls suffered 1-5 without their undisputed leader.
In the previous 35 games before Michael Jordan's return the Bulls were 18-17 with Scottie Pippen leading the team, after Jordan's return the Bulls went 13-4 and 72-10 the following season. Jordan was the most crucial player in NBA history to his team's championship success along with players like Shaq being close behind. Michael Jordan was the only All-Star on the Chicago Bulls in 1991 and 1998.

Cats act like it was'nt a bunch of strong athletic players from years past. If you strong and athletic it don't matter when you hooping

they also made the playoffs in jordan's absence, taking the eventual EC champs to a 7 game series that they actually got robbed in on a bad call.

All those stats are irrelevant when u look at the fact kobe led the team in playoff winshares.
