Hampton Roads Metro (Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News, VA-NC MS) - 1,671,683

I think they can support it.

@Cmon_Son (lol at the irony). Its not about the population size of the area. Green Bay has a smaller market but they love football like a religion which is why the packers survive there. The area being dicussed isn't a large market for nba fans and is also in of college basketball acc country.

Also logistically the area would have troubles handling traffic and flow that comes with having a pro team. Likewise TV market viewership might be an issue too. TV viewership is actually more important than attendance in the actual arena.

@CaddoMan, NY State have the buffalo bills.

True but I think this rumor is dead in the water. If wifey wasnt so against driving I would take this Friday off and drive to VA beach for the weekend. I think it is about 8 hours.

What other city or area do people think can support a pro team?

OKC has one.

J-ville has one

Sac-town may still have one.

Buffalo has two.

Columbus has two, I think.

Milwaukee is prime for a snatch and grab.

Sac -town is too.

J-ville is treading water.

Austin is too close to San Antonio for a pro team. I truly do believe that Hampton Roads needs more corporate support for them to be viable. Richmond is not a option. Louisville is a big college town. Reno is a no-no. Anything outside of Charlotte in North Carolina is not viable. Charleston is a maybe. Little Rock, no! Las Vegas is not a option because of the gambling aspect. "Niggas" is vulnerable.
