I too have fond memories of my father presenting me a gift:
It was a December decades back, it was my first time in the U.S.
Coming from a hot climate with mostly one race of people this was a very new experience for me, to see everyone wrapped up in winter gear and all the different types of people milling around NJ was like some storybook shit. Only ever saw spiccs and white people on tv.
After a few days adjusting to everything being new, something even more amazing happened....it snowed.
It had been dry in jersey the past couple winters, with nothing but cold temps and nothing else. So to see the snow on my first trip was a treat. Anyway it snowed all night and in the morning it was literally a winter wonderland, white everywhere like a young jeezy daydream, all the neighborhoods kids were out building snowmen and robbing other kids for anything they could(good ol Paterson nj)
It was then that my pops hit me with a gift that kept giving for the next few hours, he woke me up and told me go outside I got something for u son. It was cold outside but the authority in his voice made me get up to go see plus he always sprung surprises on me in the same manner like he'd say "go open that box" and itd be rollerblades or some shit.
Anyway got outside and what did i c?
A shovel in the snow awaiting me
thanks pops never forgot that bullshit
