How old is that Kid Rock song now? 10+ years. This has been discussed time and time again. In my opinion, it's not cool for people that are not black to use the word, period. That includes hispanics. I understand that Kid Rock has paid his dues and if any white person has earned the right to use that word, it would be him. I don't agree with it, or try to excuse it, but given the context and truth of that song, I think that's why some people let it slide. As a white man, I think you're just asking for problems, or publicity, if you use that word. I don't care if you grew up in the projects, fuck black girls, can dance and play basketball, or whatever stereotype you associate with black people, not everybody you use that word around knows your history. And most don't care. Bottom line is it's disrespectful. It's a step backwards for racial relations everytime a white person uses that word. Even if it's said in a room full of white people. No, I don't think that much emphasis or importance should be placed on any word, but it is. It was like that before I was born and probably will be after I'm dead and forgotten.
