Saying the word is like an inside joke with white people, its their way of joking about how stupid ni99ers are for letting them hang around them.CrookedLetter;874874 said:I never got this "pass" thing, so just because you grew up around black people, it gives you the justification to say the word, you would think the person would have more respect for the people he grew up around

That includes hispanics. I understand that Kid Rock has paid his dues and if any white person has earned the right to use that word, it would be him. I don't agree with it, or try to excuse it, but given the context and truth of that song, I think that's why some people let it slide. As a white man, I think you're just asking for problems, or publicity, if you use that word. I don't care if you grew up in the projects, fuck black girls, can dance and play basketball, or whatever stereotype you associate with black people, not everybody you use that word around knows your history. And most don't care. Bottom line is it's disrespectful. It's a step backwards for racial relations everytime a white person uses that word. Even if it's said in a room full of white people. No, I don't think that much emphasis or importance should be placed on any word, but it is. It was like that before I was born and probably will be after I'm dead and forgotten. It's a lost cause for any white person trying to justify it's usage. Is not for you, move on to more important issues.

Or even an interview with someone who claims they heard him say that. It's here say, there's no evidence. If someone can show me some evidence, then I'll be the first to admit I was wrong and that Elvis Presley was a racist. Because there's plenty of examples of Elvis not being a racist, but that gets ignored. A little fact they conveniently omitted from the movie Cadillac Records was that Elvis paid Lil Walter out of his own pocket for the royalties he got screwed out of for "My Babe", which Elvis covered. It was Elvis' manager, Col. Tom Parker who was a racist. If anyone actually said that shit about a black man can only shine my shoes, it was probably him. Elvis also left millions to his maid, a black woman, who used the money to put all her children and grandchildren through college. This is just a rumor. No different than when people said Lauren Hill said she'd rather starve than have white people buy her album.
