Just went through it, first spin, ......ahhhh didn't give me that GKMC Holy Ghost, has some dope tracks, solid effort, going to give it a few more spins.

When Kendrick said he was abusing his power, he was talking about what happened in Wall. Then he said the same as you, speaking to Tupac. Then I figured out he was talking about Pac using his power to fuck Biggie wife Faith. Shit tripped me out.

A real lyricist don't even want you to get everything after a first listening.

They put time and effort into their craft. You can't compare art with fast-food.

How often do you and everyone that cosigned your post replay Nas songs to get his message? Don't give me that everything response cause I won't listen.

You IC cats always giving new meaning to everything. I guess the ICs favorite rapper of all time isn't a real lyricist. Yeah I said it. Nas ain't a real lyricist based on this post.

so after two listens, I would say that I've absorbed the album as much as I can.....

The album is imo, a really personal album. I was surprised because the early imagery and discussion of the album seemed to hype this album up as entirely about the black experience and empowerment.

While some of the content is about many of the most relevant topics in the Black community (Complexion, Blacker the Berry, Institutionalized), I found the overarching theme to be something more entirely.

If I was asked to determine the meaning of the album it would be fear. Most of the content seems to be Kendrick trying to reconcile being a superstar rapper now with his roots and the FEAR of possibly being a walking contradiction, of selling out, of falling victim to vices and greed to cope with the world.

EVERYTHING

I don't have to replay Nas to get the message, I replay Nas because he's fucking dope.

Plus he got something to say, same goes for Kendrick. And they "can" do it in a lyrical way.

But if you get everything after a few plays, cool.

after about 4 listens all the way through i have determined that i love this LP even more that GKMC. its a master piece....i dont want to use the word classic because its over used.....ah fuck it. its a classic

LOL. Hip Hop is dead outsold this nigga first week.

You say that as if HHID wasn't a timeless classic that changed the trajectory of hip hop by getting new artists to give a fuck about the craft again...

Being outsold by a classic CD from the GOAT is nothing to be ashamed of... Unless you're Young Jeezy in '06 of course...

Hey, leave Jeezy outta this. 102 is the exact reason I became a die hard Jeezy fan for a few years.
