Once upon a time people thought Lupe was gonna usher in a New Era

Only time will tell

He was supposed to but his record label wanted him to go in a different direction!!!

I never been this hype about hip hop since 50 cent reign. This shit have me. Feel like I'm dreaming. I just love hip hop man. Love all you IC. This is great for music. Hope this shit trends forever.

Over the years we've seen how crazy it gets when someone mentions "king and NY" in the same sentence. KL channeled his inner 90's Death Row and said "what you gonna do about it?" Bold for a rising star that young in the rap game.

Let's see how he handles the attention that's gonna come in waves and he had to expect it.

If I was the artists being called out I'd tread careful with the response... TDE is a very strategic label in terms of how they plan their next moves, wouldn't be surprised if they have something big on the horizon when the right artist responds in a disrespectful manner.

Maybe amongst hiphop heads, but the little Simpsons looking nigga from Canada is the front runner imo. Drake has found the right balance between commercial appeal and hiphop imo. I think Kendrick will eventually make better music, but Drake will be viewed as more successful.

Can't blame him, these niggas ain't fit for competition. Think about it, out of all these Superfriend records coming out, what was the last one that got talked about verse wise? What niggas look like talkin bout "yo, y'all heard that Pop That record? Lil Wayne killed that shit!". And K Dot wasn't even really that disrespectful, so it's not even something to respond to directly. This just means cats gotta step their pen game up. K Dot is the only one doing that (in the mainstream), so fuck it, he deserves it.

Drake has 2 Multi Plat Albums... way more Chart Topping songs, Grammy etc... Kendrick carving his own lane but the Numbers sit heavy with Drake right now.

if this was the early 2000s, these rappers would've responded the same day:

chamillionaire

papoose

juelz

hell rell

game

crooked i

lupe

Naw the whole Dipset would've dropped a mixtape addressing this shit like when Nas snapped on the radio...

Of course Drake gonna sell more records he's pushing the R&B angle too and has a huge audience of fans that are women.

Kendrick is doing it purely through hiphop. I don't think you can compare the two. I'm not hating on Drake.

But can you truly call him an emcee or rapper ? Both of his albums have been hybrid albums in terms of singing and rapping.

He's making noise. There hasn't been anyone, at least in the mainstream spotlight, to shake things up like this in a while. Props to him. Hip-hop is of competitive nature. Excited to see where this goes. Let's go.
