Lol his first two albums are essentially about God too. So him continuing the theme isn't surprising

huh?

God was a major part of his two albums. I didn't Love TPAB but respected n liked the concept so I fucked w it...i tried to play it when I had a chance to listen to the whole thing str8 through

Iono bout Section.80 being about God, but GKMC and TPAB both were faith themed albums in different respect so what Mikey's saying is true.

that's a reach. especially for gkmc

Not a reach...the album opens and closes with him giving his life to god..is not a gospel album, but god has definitely been a reoccurring theme in his last two joints

I think it will moreso focus on spirituality and how trials and tribulations can test your faith. Shit you see and experience will make you ask how can there be a God.??? Will be dope and thought provoking nonetheless

Rapper Kendrick Lamar is working on a followup to 2015’s To Pimp a Butterfly, and according to an interview with The New York Times, the project will go in a completely new direction.

In the interview, Lamar discussed how Butterfly and his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d. city looked at injustice, violence and growing up in Compton, Calif., surrounded by gangs. But, for his new album, which is currently in the works, Lamar is taking on a different idea: faith. He said,

“To Pimp a Butterfly” was addressing the problem. I’m in a space now where I’m not addressing the problem anymore. We’re in a time where we exclude one major component out of this whole thing called life: God. Nobody speaks on it because it’s almost in conflict with what’s going on in the world when you talk about politics and government and the system.

Though his previous albums had larger scopes and brought in a lot of narrative themes, references to Christianity have been prevalent in Lamar’s music. good kid, m.A.A.d. city even opens with this prayer:

Lord God, I come to you a sinner, and I humbly repent for my sins. I believe that Jesus is Lord. I believe that you raised him from the dead. I will ask that Jesus will come to my life and be my Lord and savior. I receive Jesus to take control of my life, and that I may live for him from this day forth. Thank you lord Jesus for saving me with your precious blood. In Jesus name, amen.

So far, there’s no release date for his new album.

so what?

By this logic you'd rather watch The Preachers Wife instead of Menace to society

TPAB was too experimental for me to love all the way through. I hope its not like that. As long as the dude is straight up rappin and the beats aint weird af, then ill give it a shot.

Define weird
