When u build a fan base as strong as K,Dot or a J.Cole . 2 things will happen . 1 your fans have a connection to your music so they will buy your album . 2 If they dont buy they album they will support u via buying concert tickets . Not really surprised at this at all . Good music sells and if it doesnt sell high numbers artist that make strong music with depth will always have fans and be able to tour .

I dont understand what kendrick's success has to do with j cole.

Theyre both doing well, which is good for hip hop.

Niggas need to quit with that stan shit

It's just natural. Some kendrick fans seem to hate cole, so u know they gotta rub it in cole fans faces. Im a fan of both, so im equally ecstatic for both of their successes.

I wasn't really feeling the album, but I don't listen to a lot of new cats anyway. Props to the brother for getting it in though. I guess hip hop is still alive.

Great first week sales.

LA makin moves, bringing real music back to the mainstream with no gimmicks.

If a new nyc rapper can bring back the classic east coast style AND sell records, the down south fast food gimmick rap era (ymcmbmmg/bricksquad/etc) might finally end..

It should be Joey Baddass.

He doesnt have the momentum to sell records yet though.

Someone tell Jay Z to put out a Joey Badass record while we wait for Jay Electronica.

LOL at explaining to do, like Dr Dre being on his first single didn't have anything to do with that. Lets see how the album perform over the long run, J COLE IS AT 630,000 COPIES SOLD, lets see if Kendrick album has legs like J Coles .

Was Jay-z all over J Cole's album, nope!

Joey BadA$$ is going to have to polish his flow a lil more and put out some more music. He's only 17 so he has a lot of time to build a fanbase.

You can hit feelings all you want but don't act like J Cole didn't do all his shit without Jay-z public cosign. He had no lead single or video with Jay-z help.

Plus SLS leaked earlier than Kendricks.

Anyway though, i'm not even mad at Kendricks success, i'm happy good hiphop is winning. It's proof you can win being yourself instead of selling fake shit or using gimmicks.

Doesn't Cole have a whole label situation from Jay-Z tho ? I thought Roc Nation (or Live Nation in general) was entirely a deal for artists to tour and get the appropriate marketing ? Iuno bout the bolded fam.

Duke is going to refuse to give Kendrick the full respect he deserves, which is why he's talking about "Let's see how Kendrick does in the long run", when he was acting like Kendrick had no shot of outselling Cole out the gate.
