Kendrick Lamar Album Discussion 4-14-17

I have always had problems listening to kendrick, Perhaps I just can't catch on but to me dude never really says anything lyrically thought provoking like people make it out to be. His album concepts are grandiose but the pieces to build upon that concept(the songs) never really work to me. For example when I listen to l=Lupe I know the topic he puts forth in the song can be deciphered by the myriad entendres he spits.

Kendrick IMO suffers from the same thing Jcole does. It's supposedly deep but its too straight forward the only thing that benefits Kendrick is he can rap his ass off and that makes it entertaining but as far as deep I just don't see it.

PS: the mixing on this album is terrible.

9th Wonder brought this shit home strong on the last track.

I don't know why niggas hold TPAB on such a high platform that shit just felt like it was inauthentic and a rent an activist type feel. Yes he talked about struggles and serious shit. But to me TPAB seemed forced.

Just listened to Damn and to me it is better than TPAB by miles. Just because it seems to be more personal and introspective. When he talks about shit on the album it feels authentic and not forced.
