Question... Kanye is always known for being weird with what he does and what he wear....
But is wearing a skirt (or what ever you call it) in public is him keeping it true to himself.... Or is he just doing it just so people can say "what is kanye wearing?"
And if its the second one why do we kill 50 cent for attention whoring but not Ye or Wayne

in my opinion with kanye its a lil bit of both ... hes so much into fashion ... i honestly believe he wanted to wear the Kilt ... but being the marketing & promo genius he is he knew damn well he would be the talk of the town wearing that shit ........ so its the kill 2 birds with 1 stone theory ....... his homo ways actually pays off double for him ...... but i dont think he truely does it just for the talk ...................... hes just that weird lol ;)

that the part that boggles me isnt the point of getting into rap is to go legit and do something thats not gonna put you in jail ..... for alot of these tuff guy rappers they get thier first criminal charge once they start thier rap career .......... its obvious thier thinking in the right direction ... but they are still moving and thinking with the wrong state of mind ...............

Like I said before keeping it real to me is being and acting like a man

hey i totally agree with ya mane !! and with that said lieing about what you are and spitting fair tale rhymes and then go on interviews spitting the same fair tales .... makes you a boy a muffet baby living in a fantasy world .... real men speak on whats real @ some point and time once them curtains are closed ...

It really never mattered to me because my definition of a G was never and will never have anything to do with a wack gang or organization. The only way a rapper that is lying to the public is not keeping it real is if they start to believe they are really that person they rap about. There are some who have lost there way to that point and they pay dearly for it.

Word to Shine...nigga lost 10 years of his life being something he wasn't

i used to care but to be honest i really don't care anymore. I just got too old to give a fuck. i just relate the music to myself and my experiences. soembody needs to do a beyond the image interview with rappers b/c we have no clue who they really are.

Kanye gets a pass b/c folks love his music. imagine if Wayne wore a skirt. it's a double standard really. Kanye wears women clothes all the time but basically gets a homo pass.

I understand that but people like prince was doing it when it was cool to do and is still doing it... Keeping it real
Andre 3000 was doing it when it wasnt popular in hip hop... Keeping it real

Kanye went from polo to kilt?
Wayne from timbs to jeggings

Is kanye keeping real with himself or is riding the (trying to stand out be different so people can talk about me) trend
and if that's the case what's the difference with what he's doing and what 50 was doing

If kanye was just casual with the fashion and didn't go to the extreme all the time I would think he's keeping it real

yea that's 100% correct. the more respected you are the more of a pass you get.

nobody aint trippin like that no more the crowd aint the same as it was in 1990 or even in 2000..the internet might say somethin but in real world the outcry wouldnt be big enough to really damage some rappers career that pic with baby and wayne and that rick ross past aint really do anything to them...in fact they were bigger after that shit came out

Like with RICK ROSS for instance, it's odd that he is one of the most respected rappers right now when in fact he just stole his whole rap-identity CB4-style, he was like a correctional officer or something at a jail and met this inmate called Rick Ross

who lived the life Rick Ross raps about, he changed his rapname to Rick Ross and just ran with it.

Personally I don't care much anymore but the degrees to which Rick Ross took it is just so extreme that it's not even funny, I can't even listen to his shit, not hard though since he's not that good of a rapper either.

So do you care if the rapper lives (has lived) the life they rap about at all?

come on. he's maybe a bit one-dimensional from his content but he definitely is a good rapper.

it's hard to say for me. one side in me says it's fucking lame to portray someone you arent and the other side says: fuck it, enjoy good music.

besides: some people claim that ross isn't as false as it may looks like. but who knows.

my problem with keeping it real is more that some people take keeping it real way to serious. like that 92 bricks thing with jay. it^s funny how people can argue about that shit still. but fuck, rap is ART. i don't want to hear jay talking about how he made 50 dollars back in the day with a little crack. that shit would be boring.

Im still waitin on sum1 2 prove to me that Ross neva sold dope. As far as tha thread is concerned, as long as u not kissin or fukn anotha man i could careless. Nelly started out "tough" 2. If u pay attention to tha bars instead of skimmin thru, you'll realize that his 1 st single is bout keepn a pistal n smokn blunts.

But Nelly actually lived that life though

I care, shits important to me, because i still hold peoples word in high regard. Im not sayin a rapper cant change or grow up, thats life, i honestly expect that. But I do look for authenticity in your raps. I know niggas embellish, thats part of entertainment, shit we dont take movies literally, even biopics. But if a nigga is tellin me they lived a certain life style, i expect him to have done that. Its funny to me that niggas who do keep it real get ridiculed, ie jeezy, nobody has ever questioned his lifestyle, but niggas tellin him he need to stop trap rapping, meanwhile, rick ross, a man who probably did sell dope, but has blatantly fabricated his whole persona, ie, stealing a mans identity the claimin "he didnt know who he was", but he gets a huge pass because its only entertainment.

Any nigga who owns a Rick Ross album or mix tape need not apply, because your purchase receipt already answers that question. No, keeping it real does not matter in the rap game anymore.
