I think it's sad when people can't appreciate genius when they first see/hear it, but need years and years of validation first. 5 years from now everybody will be comparing any new album to this.

No, you can definitley appreicate genius in the moment, it's been done throughout music history. But I truely believe a true Classic Stands the test of time. Which means 5 years from now, we will be able to pop in "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and get the same great feelings we have now. "Thriller" came out in 82' and when I pop it in today, there is no doubt in my mind it's a Classic album, it's undinable. Only Time will tell how this album holds up but it's quailty is unquestioned at this point.

Drake and Eminem as well as Rick Ross lucked out that KanYe album missed the Grammy Deadline. He will clean up in 2012 though. Maybe he will finally get that "Album of the Year" plus I think it's good that the album will set in for a year before the next award season.

EQUAL mix of COMMERCIAL and CRITICAL acclaim. Janelle has good reviews, but there is no commercial success. Plus Kanye's album got better reviews.

I listened through the enitre catalogue at work today (minus 808s) and I honestly think this is his best album to date. Its just a step up musically imo. Its real close between this and LR though... and I can understand why he might lose some fans with this one, its really different from his other shit, people want that same goofy kanye from cd with the hot beats. My response is what if he acted the same way, and did that shit every album, would you be as interested as you are now? I would've stopped listening to him a long time ago, his initial message would be great at first that "normal dude" rap, but after hearing the same shit over and over, i would get tired real quick. There are just more messages out there with a lot more entertainment value, than the goofy consiocus rapper message (look at all these up and coming internet rappers with lame stories). I appreciate the versatility, even if its a bit left field. Definitely copping this tomorrow

(minus 808s)? Then you didn’t listen to his whole catalogue then lol but I get you. He doesn’t have a bad album (even 808’s I know I’m in the minority) to me just people have their favorites. For the longest time my favorites were graduation and College Dropout but now it’s changed to MBDTF. It’s arguably his best album, definitely top 2 with college dropout (which ever order you rank it is debatable)

I understand the point, but I dont think most people heard Sgt Peppers and were like "this is pretty good, but it ain't no Blue Suede Shoes!" Sometimes you gotta accept genius when you first hear it
