Jay-Z is a great businessman, but I'll be damned if he ain't the biggest sellout in hip hop history!

I would like to hear the argument that yall are going to pose for this niggaz latest move, yes it was very smart and innovative strategy from him and his team's part, but who going trying to argue like it wasn't the biggest sell out move of all?!...

This nigga used a Samsung commercial to promote his new album, to all the dummies that think that this only promotes his album, FALSE! It also promotes Samsung in a major way, basically this nigga has exchanged 1 million copies that Samsung will give to its Samsung Galaxy customers 72 hours ahead of the album release, to basically act as an ambassador for the brand, this album will now also be associated with Samsung, almost like a soundtrack to their product, smh...And go also research about Samsung dealings in Africa and the exploitation that minors go through for pieces of technology for their phones, smh...

How does this nigga and Kanye's friendship even survive after shyt like this? Jay stands for everything that Kanye is currently going against.

Speak on it!

close thread.....

you serious?? 'it was very smart and innovative strategy from him and his team's part' from a BUSINESS perspective, but this is about HOP HIP, guarding its authenticity and standing up for a cause, specially in the position that he now finds himself in, smh...real dissapointing, this camel prolly taking backshots from that faggot exec that got exposed a few months ago.

Jay don't owe anyone shit thats what y'all are missing. If anything niggas should be following he's lead. Jay was at the forefront of black artists GETTING THEIR OWN. Fuck your label, I'll make my own. Fuck your clothing, I'll wear my own. Fuck y'all billboard sales and all that shit, I'm gonna eat off me not everyone else. All that shit you talking about w/ africa is dumb. You name me a company and I'll find some dirty shit they're involved w/. Not saying it's right, I'm saying it's life. Rappers like Tyler the Creator are out here making millions while selling a couple 100k records because they've branded themselves. Who was at the forefront of that? And don't talk to me about "guarding hip-hop's authenticity", you're a french montana fan

^^^ This pretty much sums it up. It may not be right in the eyes of some, but its far from what I would consider a sellout move. And if the t/s is really a Stench Montana fan I can't take his ramblings seriously. If soundscan counts these as sells too, then the album is certified plat out the gate. Can't knock Jay's hustle or mind for business. Trying to relate this to some ethical human rights atrocity is outright reaching.

Is this really how your choosing to look at this? niggas really is lost, don't see anything else besides the money. That shyt got engraved so deep by society's elite and the media that niggaz really is living by these and willing to sacrifice their hard work, their prized posessions that are produced from the talent they were given or the position that they were put in for money, which in his case he already has, yet the mission is still the same? really?.

Ight.

so how is he a sellout again?

i thought it is called cross promotion.

he helps samsung reach his audience and samsungs customers can reach his music or know about it.

its a great idea.

niggas too busy coming up with street cred ways to promote....yall need to grow up and realize that the hood is not the only ones who have money and you'll reach million(aire) status faster by opening your mind an forget keeping it real for the locals..

niggaz to busy gettin caught with guns in the airport or gwtting shot in the ass or fighting in a club...all dumb shit

who's glorifying dumb shyt? wtf? stop talking outta ya ass and read the opening post, cuz you clearly don't have a clue what this thread is about... and another one...yall niggaz is lightweight for these corporates and brands, carry on tho...

Remember back in 2008/09 on when i used to say that sponsors buy alot of your records? & that if you have more sponsors & endorsements they might buy a large portion of albums depending on how you structured the deal & if you feel is an important part of your factor.

Has nothing to do with rappers making money off the album but ya gotta understand that every rapper is a brand. That's why i always laugh when ya swear ya think ya know why certain rappers have longevity & others don't. As much as y'all like to think it's about the music, the movie or any other product, it ain't.

Shit like this are common in the biz. Maybe not how they structured it but the fact that they're buying millions of copies of the album & so on. Same shit i said when Carter 3 & Carter 4 was released.

Anything in entertainment is a walking commercial.

Whats this code of the streets shyt that yall keep trying to tie this thread with, this ain't that...why yall tryna water this shit down, these niggas don't even need the team that they pay millions to, or pr agents, and reps, yall discrediting this to distract niggaz from what is materialising, smh...this is real shameful, but at the same time very telling of the status quo.

so an individual in the music business is a sell-out for making business deals using his music..some people need to kicks rocks with this selling out of the art form trip..the art form been sold since record companies not owned by the artists themselves gave rappers recording deals

jayz has def went downhill

but snoop dogg is the biggest sellout, he put his name on any cheesy generic thing he could find

then again is there such thing as a sell out in rap? it's about making that money right?

before anybody gets trolled by the thread starter you have to remember where he is coming from. he only listens to new york rappers that never amounted or will never amount to shit. if you have that papoose or french montana sound and career is in danger of being dead then your "Staying true". God forbid you take an endorsement deal and release a classic album you are really a sellout in international p's eyes. God forbid you try to have a business sense in the game and make as much or more money than the whitefolks dumbing down the music you are a sellout.

Its almost like knocking jordan for taking the deal with nike to have his own brand. Almost identical for tiger woods or kobe or lebron taking huge endrosements for millions but still proving they got game. Jay rap wise is like jordan was with the wizards. Hes not nearly as great as he was back in the day but still can average 20 pts. a game.

But like i said god forbid a new york rapper takes a risk and does a different way to do album promo and it actually works international p will disown you as a fan.

You are such a fucking hypocrite. Wayne does business deals and "dumbs down" music and he is a sellout but Jay is a great business man. Shut the fuck up.

@ T/S, People have listed hundreds of reasons why your argument has no basis. Why continue?

lmaooo...why do you think Im continuing? for that reason exactly, those hundred reasons are repetitive, lazy and just weak... "oh, they all sell out the moment they under record labels, oh its about the mula, oh getting more money is selling out, i could find dirt on any company and etc..." smh...haven't got a good nor deep argument for this yet...maybe I shouldn't be expecting one...hmmmm
