I won't say Black Thought is overrated... but just because he's better than 80% of rappers doesn't make him better than the other 20% as well. Jay Electronica's poetic style and scientific content places him ahead of Black Thought.

really how many roots albums have you actually listened too , i have heard a few jay electronica tracks and nothing really impress me he isn't doing anything new or exciting and damn

Most artists really don't resemble someone like Lupe. His new record may be more mainstream than his previous ones, but it's still pretty subversive. Songs like "All Black Everything" and "Words I Never Said" don't really fit the typical mainstream rap mold.
