If you notice, Jay-Z (lol I can't even just say Jay now) sorta learned from his and Dames mistakes with Rocafella. Everybody in Rocafella had the same subject matter and was basically cut from the same cloth. This time around he seems to be picking up people who are already talented and have a buzz in their own rite and just let them keep doing what made them popular in the first place.
That was his problem with the original team...nobody was self-contained except for Kanye. Everybody needed his help to be relevant..and as you can see now that they don't have it, they've disappeared. Jay clearly doesn't have time for that being an artist himself, so he changed his model.
Thank you, i was tryna explain it to this dumb bitch this morning. Talking about why won't Jay shout out J Cole in interviews and what not like Drake and Wayne, i'm like Cole needs to show he can stand on his own, he doesn't want that Memphis Bleek Jay-z sidekick role. These artist need to have their own movement going, so in case the popular rapper (Wayne,Jay,Kanye, etc) aint hot no more, they don't go down with the ship.
