nas was solo against the whole roc army they had at the time. He still said fuck it, and went solo against the whole roc. At the time ether dropped on the radio, everybody and there moms was listening to the radio to see how nas would respond. I was with my homies when that diss dropped (and at the time we were jay fans, and riding with jay and the whole roc movement, so the opinion on ether is not bias),but all I heard was, oooooo shit after every fucking line nas dropped!

Nas wasnt playing chess or what eva goofy games jay likes to play with people, nas instead dropped a fucking bomb on jay and his whole camp (is he dame diddy, dame daddy, or dame dummy) he bombed on there whole team, everyone was shocked that nas came out shooting to kill. That next day after ether dropped, jay came back with super ugly lol. Everybody and ther moms was saying that jay was done after super ugly because it was obvious that jay caught major feelings from ether. I say to this day, if jay would have gone against nas solo just like nas went at jay solo, jay career wouldnt have survived that ether impact. Jay had beans and the whole roc movement to have his back during that beef, which worked out for jay. For nas to stand on his own two against a whole team, and a team that was on top of the world at that time and still damn near knocked jay out proves, NAS WON!
