The 1 and 2 best diss songs of all time.

Ether is better, but I don't think there's a song in hip hop with better one liners then takeover.(There's literally tons of them)

"You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song"

No Vaseline was better than both and had more hot lines than Takeover.

true dat. ice cube roasted those muthafuckas with the TRUTH on that jawnt. it was the sole reason why NWA broke up, because he spilled ALL the facts on that chumpie. next to Eazy E's death that song solidified that there will be no NWA reunion album or tour, if so i'll be shocked.

Aren't we done talking about this shit though?

It's almost 10 years old, get over it already

man please, hip-hop has been HELLA STALE in the past 5-6 years, this is the only thing next to whether biggie or tupac being the best rapper alive that keeps the genre alive but it is like beating a dead horse.

Botom line on this battle, which will be debated senselessly for the next 50 pages, is this:

1)Ether is OBVIOUSLY better, especially considering Nas used inside facts from Jaz O, and attacked it on some 'true feelins' shyt

2) Takeover is ACTUALLLLY a better diss to Mobb Deep than it is to Nas...the ONE verse goin at Nas was more so shocking b/c he was actually goin at him, but the last verse goin at Mobb Deep LITERALLY killed their career...

that's because "Ether" was a REAL battle track, a complete diss jawnt. "Takeover" was some pop music bullshit you'd hear in the clubs. i still don't see why people are rethinking this shit after they crowned Nas the winner when this popped off. you wouldn't revise a boxing match 30-40 yrs. later would you all because you like one boxer better than the other? this shit is really lame and stupid, you can't say 1 dude won it then a decade later change your mind and story because of 1 nigga running and ruining the game.

Cmon ngga...Takeover was some pop bullshyt? wtf r u talkin about...

Since ur so big on remembering history, u would remember that the reacion to Takeover was 'got dam' nggas NEVER in a million years thought Nas had battle raps in him

Ether aint come out for a few months later, nggas thought Nas was just gon take that L and retire.

Ether beating Takeover was an indication of how good Ether was, not b/c Takeover was bad...

Ether>>>>Takeover. and Takeover isn't more factual.

Use your - BRAAAAAAAIN! You said you been in this ten

I've been in it five - smarten up Nas

Takeover dropped in 2001, so Jay was referring to his appearances with 3rd Bass/MC Serch. But that line is fallacious, how was Nas in the game since 91 due to a guest apperance, although his album dropped in 94, BUT Jay-Z wasn't in the game since 89/90 when he was dressing up like a Hawaiian chasing Jaz-O's tail spitting all fast and shit??

Four albums in ten years nigga? I could divide

That's one every let's say two, two of them shits was due

One was - NAHHH, the other was "Illmatic"

That's a one hot album every ten year average

Again, how was Nas in the game for ten years in 2001, but Jay-Z wasn't? Plus I Am... (released in 1999) sold 470,000 in it's first week, and Nastradamus which also dropped in 1999 went platinum that same year.

There's only so long fake thugs can pretend

Nigga; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks pad

You scribbled in your notepad and created your life

Says the nigga that lost 92 bricks and sold crack for 60 hrs straight within the same few years.

to your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yours

Matter fact you had the worst flow on the whole fuckin song

but I know - the sun don't shine, then son don't shine

Nas didn't have the worst flow on that song, listen to Oochie Wally.

*face palm*

I'd give money to see what u nggas was doin 10 years ago

B/c 'the streets' wasnt talkin that nerdy ass analytical shyt u talkin...

Fuk the numbers, the 'streets' agreed w/ Jay that Nas had fallen off, and it since has been proven that, yes, Jay showed Nas' first tech on tour w/ Large Pro...Yes, he sampled his voice to make a huge single from a hot line...Yes, he didnt pay him publishing, and

that '4 albums in 10 yrs....' part...ive never heard even the biggest Nas fans counter that line. That shyt was CLASSIC how he marginalized Nas whole career into a few bars.

Jay eventually lost, but you cant deny those lines.
