When Canibus was in his prime he used to body freestyles but his first album was a disappointment. Then he escalated his beef with LL and got blacklisted out of the industry.

Ja Rule, while never a great freestyle MC, was making hits and platinum selling albums. He had a string of successful albums, songs and club bangers. But in the end, his verses were never as goos as Canibus in his prime.

However, Canibus changed his style up. He uses a lot of long, scientific sounding words. Its obvious he just pulls them out of a dictionary without knowing what they mean. I'd be surprised if Caniibus has a college degree.

To answer your question, Canibus is a better rapper because of the obvious reasons, but also because he never made me hate listening to the radio like I did during the height of Ja's career... every song was a Ja featuring Ashanti, Ashanti featuring Ja, J. Lo featuring Ja, Mary J. featuring BLAHHH!! His voice was what DJ Mustard beats are now...

The better question is who got "Ja Ruled" worse? Canibus never had the success Ja had, but his buzz was bigger... then he got into it with a legend over a fuckin tatt leading to LL's epic 4,3,2,1 verse that slayed Biz on the song that was suppose to be his big break (arguably starting a tradition of rappers retconning their verses to go at rappers on the same track )... Obviously, he never recovered...

Cosign your whole post. Ja Rule had the hits, Canibus had the freestyle verses. I guess its just a matter of what you prefer.

But I still maintain that Ja Rule has a handful of club classics which can't be said about Canibus.

In the grand scheme of things I'd take a career that includes 5-7 club bangers/radio hits over a career with 5-7 GOAT freestyles and posse jam appearances.

Also, Ja Rule's beats are waaaaay better than Canibus's production. Its not even close.

Canibus has more than 5-7 goat freestyle/posse jam appearances though, Ja Rule doesn't have 5-7 club hits, radio hits yea but not club hits

If the question is who had more professional success it is obviously Ja. Ja can still do big shows internationally and get paid as an MC, especially if he has Ashanti with him. If the question is who was better it is CANIBUS. The simple fact is people who grew up to be MCs had to take a CANIBUS course, you don't have to take a Ja Rule course in MC college. You have to take a Ja Rule course in music business college.

Dame R.U.L.E gets no love on the IC.

Canibus was good but Ja was nice with it too.

P.S I'd take a Ja Rule love song over a Drake love song any day of the week.

Atleast compare canibus with a lyrical cat.

redman. royce. em. big L. kurupt. rass kass. chino xl. me.

I was intentionally comparing two rappers with completely different styles. It's more like which style of music do you prefer?

But yeah, you should make a poll with the rappers you just listed.

Though what Canibus says in songs sounds otherworldly and out of place, you actually have to either pick up a dictionary or google the terms and phrases that he says and put into context why he's saying it in conjunction with the concept of the song. Everything he says makes sense, you just have to take the time to decipher the big words and understand their place in the rhyme.

I know it's too much to do to just listen to and understand a song, but that's what he does. His metaphors are far beyond the norm. It's to the point that some of his songs are not listenable, similar to Wu Slanguage/Editorial, Cobra Clutch. They leave you squinting, scratching your head, and going "WHAT the fuck did he mean?"

A perfect example is this track.

So many references to science, conspiracies, theories, his own experiences, history, etc, all wrapped up in one metaphorical track, and if you research everything he says, it all makes sense.

I understand what your saying. But when the Mic Club album came out around 00/01 that's what somebody did. They typed out the lyrics and had links to all of his references. While it's possible to make sense out of what he was saying, he wasn't really saying anything. Just a bunch of long words that he tried to use to say he was the best MC. But I'd rather listen to MCs that use smaller words. Just my opinion.

Behind the Rose Line, 'Morals and Dogma' that rhyme

To climb one of three peaks of Mt. Hermon during my lifetime

(Father Author Poor Pauper)

In certain circles, some kind of occult or esoteric significance is ascribed to the Paris meridian (Rose Line); sometimes it is even perceived as a sinister axis. Dominique Stezepfandts, a French conspiracy theorist, attacks the Arago medallions that supposedly trace the route of "an occult geographical line"; to him the Paris meridian is a "Masonic axis" or even "the heart of the Devil."

Gilgamesh passes near Mount Hermon in the Epic of Gilgamesh, where it was called Saria by Sumerians, "Saria and Lebanon tremble at the felling of the cedars".[5][6] In the Book of Enoch, Mount Hermon is the place where the Grigori ("Watcher") class of fallen angels descended to Earth. They swore upon the mountain that they would take wives among the daughters of men and take mutual imprecation for their sin (Enoch 6). The mountain or summit is referred to as Saphon in Ugaritic texts where the palace of Baal is located in a myth about Attar.[7][8]

Music based on this subject matter won't appeal to everyone and he knows it.

Since people think Canibus is a better rapper that means people dont go out to clubs? You sound fucking stupid just like every other moron that typed that dumb shit on this forum.

You can't read. I didn't say, "Since people think Canibus is a better rapper that means people dont go out to clubs".

I said "Judging by the poll results ya'll never go out to clubs."

Ok, Ill make my question simple for your dumbass, How the fuck does the poll results(which shows canibus beating ja rule) means that niggas dont go out to clubs?

I got an idea for your next stupid thread, Lets randomly compare Raekwon to nelly and if niggas say Raekwon is better lets Assume that those niggas dont go to the clubs, sounds good huh? Fucking idiot

Cursing is a sign of ignorance. It means you can't express yourself clearly.

Anyway, its completely possible that people on the IC don't go to clubs. I know if we made a Jay Z vs Nas thread right now Nas would win even though Jay Z clearly has more club records and sells more units to mainstream America. Likewise Ja Rule made more club records and sold more units to mainstream America even though Canibus is winning this poll.

But its a waste of time discussing it with you because you're too inarticulate to get you're point across without using foul language.

Only clubs I go to are ones that play canibus theory of relativity lyrics

Women get wet off that shit, word up

I don't know how this thread derailed. It was a simple question. Who do you prefer? For some reason people started with the name calling and ad hominem attacks.

Cursing for no apparent reason.

I'm outta here.

This dude said "im outta here"

Lololol

Soundin like a white boy teen from 1955

come on man, realli! lol, Canibus. duh.

i had Ja Rule's album R.U.L.E.

to be honest liked it alot more den i thought i would.

But Canibus is one of my all time favs

Depends on wat we talking about Ja Rule's got hits

Canibus is one of the best lyricist of alltime.

Lets talk battle rap

Ja Rule never lost a battle as bad as Canibus did...and to a white boy.

At the very least you can say Ja Rule beat Eminem, who is arguably the best white rapper in the history of Hip Hop. Canibus lost to a white boy that nobody had ever heard of.

Ja rule got his whole legacy washed away and is now a joke after that battle with shady, how exactly did he win? I know yall dont like eminem on this forum but jesus, lets be real here for once
