J.Cole "Work Out" single. Is it a flop? (Real discussion)

I took a break from ahh for about a year,da shits crazy tho. I remember last year,Nas Lost was said in every thread no matter what da topic was about,and now Nas is in everybodys Top 5 doa. At da same time J.cole had his own thread on here about 300 pages deep gettin mad love,and dat was da shit dat put me on Cole. Now u cant go in a thread without a nigga sayin J.Cole Lost. Funny how shit changes in a year smh

Word of advice, 90 percent of the niggas on the message boards are haters, they're not a reflection of the real world. If it was up to these niggas every nigga would be rapping on DJ Premier and Pete Rock beats and talking about eating chineese food and buck fiftying niggas. lol

If this is the real Mike Shaw, tell dude to continue to do his thing and he does need to put out more visuals to his songs. Most of the hate dude is getting is roll over Jay-z hate!

Good luck, i think the touring (college, overseas, rihanna) will pay off in the long run. Like i've been saying for the longest, fanbase > hit records (Radio and BET), niggas like Pitbull, Wacka,etc got hit records and ain't selling no albums. No reason why J Cole can't build a base like Lupe or Cudi!

ultra flop. shit been out a month and never got any play in houston. i never heard anyone talking or bumping this song. the shit is like 400 on itunes. in the day and age of instant video upload roc nation shows super stupidity by withholding the video for some strange reason. no kind of excitement or confidence was placed into the marketing of this so called single.l the track is generic, underproduced and boring. no memorable lines, no catchy hook. cole comes off sleepy and robotic. at least i know rocnation is a equal opportunity employer because the person who signed this off to be j cole first single off his debut album has an agressive form of down syndrome and possible autism. jigga cares.

He did have a top 10 record, it was 10 ten on the itunes hiphop charts and reach 41 overall on the pop chart. They need visuals to support the song though

If you're looking for a real opinion...GO FIND HIM A LEGIT FUCKIN BEAT. This Work Out garbage will not build him a fanbase. I don't care how hard he spits on the beat, if you're talking SINGLE, find a single-calibur beat.

Who Dat peaked at #93 on the Hot 100, #19 on the US Rap charts, and #32 on the US R&B charts. So i wouldn't consider that a flop, it just achieved moderate success.

In The Morning peaked at #57 on the US R&B charts, but it was only a mixtape cut, so i wouldn't consider that a flop either.

Work Out peaked at #85 on the Hot 100 so far, once they promote it more, it might chart higher on the Hot 100, and it might chart on the US R&B and US Rap charts as well...it's still too early to consider it a flop imo.

Damn, debuted at #85 on the Hot 100 last week and already fell back out the entire chart this week. That's exactly what I said would happen. Not even Top 100 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart. Gaining decent on Urban and Rhythmic radio but still not Top 50 on either. I'd give it another month to grow before they need to pull the plug on this completely.

The hook did grow on me though but the verses still kill the song. SMH who told him that shit was OK to do?
