Meanwhile, we're still spending billions in Afghanistan per week, with two more American troops being killed by their Afghan "partners" today lol. This country is run by fucking idiots, from the White House on down.

and we got 12 more years to "occupy" this land of savages

Yeah that's the real kicker, we're gonna be in Afghanistan until 2024, not 2014 as the President constantly lies to us about. I swear it's like Democrats and Republicans purposely want to ruin the nation just so themselves and their personal interests stay and get richer.

What do you think about Bernanke publicly speaking about QE4? today? I don't think it's a good idea to spend another trillion dollars we don't have when we already have 16 trillion in debt. But even more worrying than that is that QE 1 2 and 3 didn't go as planned either. And each of those also went for trillions of dollars, I wonder why the Fed hasn't been audited yet.....

Obama is a figurehead the gameplan for the last 12 years has been the same. No matter who's president the gameplan will continue.

Not true, the president actually has a lot of power. The American presidency is often called the most powerful job in the world. This is recognized by most nations around the world, although there are certainly limitations to the power, as we see in how many nations around the world hate America (with good reason).

I think @MC was keeping to the constitutional powers endowed to the president. If sticking strictly to the constitution then Congress is the most powerful branch of government...in fact it still is.

The Pres shouldn't be writing law (meaning executive orders are unconstitutional), his job is to ENFORCE the law (which he always picks and chooses which laws to enforce and when).

Yes this I understand. But still though, the president has power that is supreme when it comes to the military, that by itself means Obama has more power than Congress (physical power by means of federal troops). By law yes Congress is more powerful, but what good is a law if the President or anyone else isn't enforcing it?

Its useless, that is of course what the checks & balances in government are about.

Pretty much, exactly why I feel Obama should make some attempt to legalize medical marijuana (or at least stop enforcing the damn law persecuting it) and end the damn war in Afghanistan already. Most voters support these things by now.....

I saw a report on the news today on just how bad the debt is for states and cities nationwide. Did you know Alabama has 60 billion dollars in debt? California has 617 billion in debt. The states overall have about 4 trillion in overall debt. State worker pensions make up most of the states' debts, a troubling sign for future state workers in the future. We should expect that pensions and salaries for state workers in the future will go down, with layoffs to come.
http://www.bizjournals.com/birmingham/news/2012/08/29/alabamas-debt-tops-60-billion.html

Alabama's state debt totals more than $60 billion, according to a new report from State Budget Solutions.

Pensions account for $43.5 billion, or nearly 72 percent, of Alabama's debt, with other post-employment benefits accounting for nearly $15 billion. Those figures were in line with national trends.

The combined debt total for all states was nearly $4.2 trillion. Alabama had the 23rd highest debt total.

Market-valued unfunded public pension liabilities make up more than half of all state debt, accounting for $2.8 trillion of the total. These market-valued pension liabilities provide a realistic view of the money owed to public pension systems as a result of years of skipped payments, borrowed funds, and inaccurate discount rate assumptions.

In comparison to market-valued liabilities, traditionally calculated unfunded pension liabilities hide the true enormity of state debt obligations. Unfunded liability figures from the Pew Center on the States rely on much of the same data that states use to continually underfund their pension systems. While market-valued liabilities total $2.8 trillion, the latest traditionally calculated figures total only $760 billion in unfunded pension liabilities. Total state debt using these figures is still over $2 trillion, but a comprehensive view of state debt without accurately assessed public pension liabilities disguises the problem to the tune of as much as $2.1 trillion.

States and other sources have not yet released market value pension liability figures for fiscal year 2011.
Therefore, this year's report uses the same market-valued pension liability figures first published in 2010 and used in the previous year's report. Even so, growth in traditionally calculated unfunded pension liability totals indicates that were updated numbers available, aggregate state debt would have continued to increase.

No shit the US owes x amount of dollars.

Has unemployment decreased? Yes. Pretty impressive given Obama's short run cleaning up Bush's 2 term mess.

Has Obama passed some policies including Obamacare? Yes.

Do you have any idea how much red tape he has to pass through? He has to play politics too and not piss certain people off.

As for the wars you keep crying about. He can't just back out cold turkey. He has to do it strategically while saving face. Remember he is cleaning up Bush's mess.

I don't need fabricated sources like you, I see it in the facts and figures. And it has been consistent.

SONNED.

I have lol. And the journalism isn't shoddy, otherwise, why can't you say what parts are fabricated in the article? Cat got your tongue huh? LOL come on be a fucking man and answer my question. Don't be a pussy, stop running away from my question and answer it.

I don't think you read economic magazines and journals much, otherwise, you should do some more research on the financial matters of this nation and how it is making things worse for the avg American. This country is bankrupting itself into oblivion and this is not being helped spending 5 trillion in 4 years. That is despicable and going to ruin our future generations. We now owe 16 trillion dollars in debt as of yesterday. Continuing the war in Afghanistan at 2 billion a week when so many states and cities could use that money is disgusting. So is not having a new ideas in how to create jobs, deficit spending isn't going to work in the long run at this furious pace. My mom is a nurse and she tells me first hand how govt cuts has severely hurt patients who need care.

@KingBlaze84 I think you should look at who sponsored the link you quoted and then ask yourself if those people don't have an agenda.

Months ago an entire county in Alabama filed for bankruptcy and that county has 8.4% unemployment....which is absent from your link, its all blamed on pensioners (the elderly and unions). 7 years ago the state complained about the drastically skyrocketing prison system. I've seen Alabama ranks 6th in incarceration in this country.

I believe that is what @Thinking is telling you to do, but he's being sort of rude about it.

I'm very selective over who's information I believe. "Numbers don't lie" well the people who spread them around do. There's more to numbers than just the number.

Your link also mentions California, and the big problem there is the 10.7% unemployment rate and the highest number of incarcerated people in the country. They have been complaining about prison overcrowding for YEARS. They can thank their mandatory minimums and three strikes laws for that. Its starting to decrease now but that's recently.

More goes into spending than pensions and shit. So when people attempt to sell me that teachers, police, firefighters etc are destroying their state I'm sure there's some bullshit in the game because they don't make that much money from jump.

OK, fair point. The people who sponsored the link I brought up about pensions and state debt are bringing up a legit point in general though, and NO I am not blaming unions for states being so bankrupt. What I am saying though is that this country is in a fiscal mess, and we should be taking care of HOME, not overseas adventures costing us billions a week. States deserve bailouts, not people overseas who hate us and are killing our troops.

I am all for unions and state workers making a decent pension after retirement, I know state govt workers and I wish them well. We do need some kind of pension reform though, but more importantly, we as a nation have to to figure out our priorities. It's either gona be bailouts for banks, corporations, and the MIC, or our state workers and American families. That's all I'm saying.

And as far as the incarceration system in states, it further proves my point that marijuana should be fought to be legalized by the federal govt, or at least have the laws not enforced, as the President can easily do as he did with immigration. It's too expensive to enforce these dumb drug laws, and it isn't working anyway. Let's not forget most voters now support the legalization of marijuana, and most people arrested are arrested for non-violent drug offenses. Weed being the main reason people are locked up.....time to think with our minds, not with big corporate money that wants weed illegal.

Your right about drug laws but I would expound on it and say legalize all drugs, let's go the Portuguese route with drugs.

I also agree with the taking care of home first peep how much the infinitely broke Government gave defense contractors THIS YEAR: "Lockheed Martin raking in $668M, Northrop Grumman making $506M and Boeing, an astonishing $923M"http://americanfreepress.net/?p=4096

Halliburton said its first-quarter profit rose to $627 millionhttp://mobile.reuters.com/article/idUSBRE83H0HG20120418?irpc=932

That's not even all the contractors involved with those wars.

Now when it comes to states? Lol c'mon I can find wasted money on privatized school districts, privatized prisons etc which always cost more and are more trouble than their worth.
