Is this your opinion or are you basing this off of album credentials?

Isn't everything on this site peoples opinions lol.....I dont see a lot of facts thrown around here.....Aquemini is classic album.....I just don't think too many people outside of hiphop would put it in the top 10 of albums of all time....thats just me....I guess my question is....who's album are you taking out of the top 10 to put it in.....Now if we're saying there has to be representation of all genre's of music....then that's a different argument....

It seemed like you were basing your opinion off of the creds other albums have gotten over the years. The bolded is why I can feel comfortable in putting it in that category cause I do and have listened to all kinds of crazy shit. More then likely the people putting together an all time list would not be Hip Hop. Aquemini would be the only Hip Hop album Ive ever heard to be put in a top 10 All Time list musically.

As much as I like rap and as much as i dislike the sound of singing and shit, I don't think that a rap CD will make it in an all-inclusive top 10 list musically, because rappers are barely, well... musicians...

Let's not pretend rap isn't the easiest genre to get into (besides pop, and I mean Ke$ha-pop not what yall call Eminem-pop)...

No hiphop album is a top 10 music album.

However, Public Enemy's 'It Takes A Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back' may be the single most influential hiphop album and worthy of discussion.

threads like this remind me of how some of y'all really don't even fuck with hip hop like that...

anyway...

Life After...

It Was Written...

The Miseducation...

Doggystyle... are all contenders in my book...

to me it shows either your a super hiphop head (nothing wrong with that at all) or you listen to a lot of different music.....All those albums you listed are Classics....but top 10 albums in music period of all time? I would want all music to be judged fairly.....and for them to not just throw a rap album in there just because they feel like it would be fair or the nice thing to do.....

Reasonable Doubt, I'm The DJ He's The Rapper, and BE are contenders in my opinion...dog y'all hate hiphop...I mean there are dope ass albums from other genre's don't get me wrong...but other music has just as much trashy music as hiphop...we belong in the top 10!

Is the Miseducation even a Hip Hop album?

If I had to nominate a couple albums I'd pick The Chronic, Aquemini & Things Fall Apart

As much as we like to claim that album. Its not really a RAP album. It is Hip Hop tho.

Looking at it from a outside view (not as a hiphop fan), i don't think any album makes top 10. However The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, The Score,The Chronic, Speakerboxx/Love Below, etc stands a chance.

I'm not even gonna jump to assumptions, but how many hip hop fans are even listening to a wide variety: how many have even heard these, Rolling Stone's top 10. To even base your argument.

10. Beatles - White Album

9. Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde

8. The Clash - London Calling

7. The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street

6. Marvin Gaye - What's Going On

5. The Beatles - Rubber Soul

4. Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited

3. The Beatles - Revolver

2. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds

1. The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart Club

Lol I'm ashamed that I've only heard one in its entirety though I do love songs from a couple. I gotta listen to at least the top 50.

It's debatable that most hip hop albums could even compete musically, since much of it is sampling older music.

After much thought, MBDTF and Aquemini are on the level of any "top ten" album. Maybe Roots as well but I don't really listen to them

It takes A Nation OF Millions to Hold US Back is the only Hip Hop album that gets mentioned when you are talking about the upper echelon of classic albums. I think Rolling stone had it at 43 all time. But i believe Illmatic is one of the ten best albums based on strictly music not counting for impact or anything like that. NO other Hip Hop albums even come close.

I didn't initially think about that album, but that album is another album that would make a great argument for being a Top 10 album ever.
