Is The NY Hip Hop scene stable again?

Asap mob, Carti, joey badass, A boogie amongst others proving that New York on some resurgence and not relying on a stable of older rappers to carry the torch

I don’t really see any coast as particularly dominant right now. There’s dope albums coming from all over and that’s definitely including NY.

Yup. Ferg my fav outta NY right now.

I have not listened to anyone from that list. Only heard songs from Cardi and French. Remy and Pap are old and have not delivered with their careers. Oh I only know that Bad bitches song from one of them Asap guys with Drake on it but that is old. So no. When they start making Reasonable Doubt, Illmatic, Ready to Die and the Infamous quality of music then @ me. Til then......Go That way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

^^ from the AOTY thread. Regionally all over the place.

The south was the last coast to hold the title. The Internet has ruined regional Dominance. That is a good thing and a bad thing.

NY held it down from 73-03.

What other region has a 30 year reign?

That's a negative. Y'all reign ended with the prevalence of gangster rap in L.A. When Pac died y'all entered a power struggle with the South. Due to Atlantas capacity to put out new artist every 2 weeks, y'all didnt regain control of the genre. So I give y'all 73-til maybe 90/91.

So after Pac died, Biggie didn't go diamond, BadBoy didn't go on one of the craziest runs, Jigga, Dmx, Pun, Ja, 50 cent didn't happen, and Nas, Wu, Redman, etc all disappeared?

Where's that 3 decade long interactive graph that show what songs were dominating at what time?

Cardi B is this year’s Desiigner who was the year before Young MA, who was the year before Bobby Shmurda.

NY rap as we know it is done.. the subject matter is redundant and the beats are garbage. The fans don’t help because they keep looking for a next Jay Z.

What's wrong with that, it's working for Atlanta?

The fact a lot of these artists think they’re gunna have any type of longevity, with this weak ass content they produce.

I find it weird how Conway and Benny were mentioned but not westside Gunn, he's the one leading that movement

The problem with ny rappers is that alot of them know how to rap too well.

And bars are not the for front of hip hop anymore

6-7 people in that list alone could smoke ANYONE in Atlanta, and Atlanta is the most popping region right now.

You can't name another region with better spitters

Making songs>>>>>>>>

The main people at the forefront can actually spit and make songs. I tell folks all he time nobody buy Acapella albums, music matter just as much if not more than the words

Ny ain't nearly as flabby n sick as they once were tho

There doin worst an have an identity crisis rn… e.i bobby shmurda copy Chicago drill an young ma as well… Dave east sound like a philly nigga an French Montana got school by 3-6… nikky was school by 1017 … like I said b4 I'm not tryn be in tha club grinding on a bitch 2 dmx were my dogs

I know this comment is from a few months ago, but Dave East sound like a philly nigga? Really?

Don't pay that muthafucka no mind. A NY nigga prolly fucked his moms and left his little ass fatherless, causing him to act like a scorned bitch whenever something NY is brought up.
