This track fully represents Jay Z true personality and artistic accord instead of all the euro bullshit he started putting out from 09 until present. This was a ol gully hip hop anthem with hypnotic chorus. Fire ass lines and production that sounds polished and elegant. The horns>>>> I remember in 07 they used this song heavy in commercials and NBA/NFL games. Him and Nas in the video was a classic moment. I personally prefer blue magic as his post retirement GOAT track but rock boys is a classic

Awww man how I forget about Blue Magic.

I'll say Pray, Party Life(as a song not lyrically), Thank You, and Oceans probably better but Roc Boys def a great song. Was the perfect single to hit with after Kingdom Come had some folks looking at him shaky

Roc Boys is an excellent song but not his best post-retirement. I forget about Primetime from WTT...flames. Say Hello is awesome. Fallin' from a lyrical standpoint is absolutely bananas...

lmao, a friend of mine listened to this for the first time last year and asked me if there were any black superheroes, i said: well there's black panther, black lighting, the black green lantern, an old black captain america...

One of my favorite Hov tracks

Yes there were better tracks than Roc Boys but it definitely set the tone for the album

AG > Kindom Come

Ima go with Trouble......

Dipset popped allllll that shit for a minute. Trouble dropped and it seem like they got quiet. Cept Jim Jones who was desperate not to let his career go to sleep. Ref was finna call the ambulance for Jimmy but he jumped and got on Love & Hip Hop.

Imo

Takeover

My top 5 would be:

Dear Summer

Oceans

So Ambitious

Sweet

Why I Love You (perhaps his most lyrical post-retirement)

Jay ripped that song on WTT.

Caesar didn't see it so he ceased to exist/so the nigga that killed him got keys to his shit

Technically that shit is on point. And his flow on just those two lines is goat to me.

That's why I couldn't ever get with the whole Jay fell off thing.

Pray and American Dreamin' are the best songs on AG IMO

"Fast forward freeze frame on my pistol fistful of dollas ignorance is so blissful, I didn't choose this life this life chose me, around here it's the shit that you just do"

"Hol' up survive the droughts? I wish you well? How sick am I? I wish you health"

Also the last song on AG is underrated for some reason. No one talks about it.

Anyway I'd like to know either in here or elsewhere what ppls favorite post retirement verse is from Jay. I love his Shiny Suit Theory verse. He executed that shit masterfully IMO I know every word.
