Meek Mill is a damn good rapper no doubt, but I question his future as a commercially successful artists who will last more than 2-3 years. I know I'm going to get slammed for saying this, but am I the only one who hasn't any solo songs by Meek that will make good radio/commercially successful songs? Am I the only one who has notice that he's just slightly more commercially viable because of who he's associated with all while he's mainly a damn good mixtape/street corner rapper like Papoose? Truthfully he raps about a lot of nothing, but I think he'll continue to do good mainly because of his followers from his mixtapes but mainly because of his association with Rick Ross. I believe he'll have a strong year and then he'll fade.

I just don't think he has radio ready music or good singles in him and he certainly can't make one solo. I think he's good, but at this point he's actually more hype than actual ability when it comes to being able to establish a long run in the industry. What do y'all think??

Pause. First off Meek Mill is an average, generic sounding rapper who uses beats to carry him on tracks. As for the question at hand he's all new hype he better make as much money as he can cause once his hype is gone he'll fade away.

I was trying to be nice but I agree that he's an average rapper. I should've been clear, he's and Papoose are on the same level IMO the only difference is that Meek landed a deal with one of the hottest out and his energy is more acceptable than Pap's. Both are mixtape/corner store rappers who after 2-3 songs out of 13-15 I'm tired of hearing them. He yells on just about everything he does and seems to not know how to relax/lay-back on a track when the track requires it. I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed whenever his album comes out, but will continue to buy into the hype. The only way his album will be a success is if he has other super hot artists featuring on every track.

That applies to pretty much everyone on MMG. Their just so damn repetitive at the very most I listen to 3 Rick Ross songs a week.

His style is cool for now but growing as an artist will be key to longevity.

this.

i don't think he'll ever be a star like that but dude should have a pretty solid career..

I don't see him having that cross over appeal. He sounds out of pocket on radio friendly tracks... Meek a beast when it comes to that street shit tho.

meek is gonna have a straight STREET career i say he will b a gold artist imean hez proven he can make radio trax like IMMA BO$$! & lol@ meek mill rapz about nuttin now that krazy statement provez u dont listen 2 meek mill & another thang we cant judge rapperz off of sellz cuz rapperz aint goin platinum no mo only a HAND FULL r...

Nothing great about Meek, ima boss was what blew him, and its mainly the beats and the hype that carry him. Everything new will get old. However if he keep on that street shit n link up with Cassidy n d block nthat he will ALWAYS be considered is hard!

On the same level as papoose? GTFO. Beats carry him? GTFO. Papoose hasn't had close the the success as Meek as had.

When i hear people saying shit like that. I can't take you seriously because i know you haven't listend to Meek outside of 2-3 songs. Dudes been on the radio since rose red. 2010 his Black and Yellow remix came on every hour.

He's been rocking shows with 30k people for years. He done sold 100k mixtapes out his trunk.

Do you even realize how much he has grown? It's crazy. He went from underground trap rap, to main stream success with club bangers like house party. And he didn't fall off. His growth is astronomical.

Meek been on the scene since he was 14, he's one of those artists that doesn't need commercial success to be successful.

Too Short been eating off rap since 1983 about 5 years before Meek Mill was even born and he just dropped an album this year that made the Billboard 200. Too Short is 46 and still on albums like Wiz "Rolling Papers".

Meek got the streets and his city behind him and as long as you stay true to those elements you can stay in this game as long as you want...E-40 is another example he's been dropping albums and doing shows for over 20 years with minimal mainstream success but a loyal and constant street fan base that keep him relevant in the streets were it counts.

Meek will be in the game until he's ready to retire, fuck the mainstream and commercial acceptance.

maybe where you are at. but yeah, i think meek can have a successful long career, provided he keeps exhibiting the growth he has been recently exhibting

Yea his flow is what carries him but some more substance and versatility will be needed. Let's see where he goes. I'm not sure bout Amen as his single though. I mean folks gonna think it's a drake song vs a meek track. But if you got Drake and Jeremiah on the track and can't get radio play then it's a lost cause.

i really wish were in the time and days where I used to be could be a single. i fuck with that track

Amen is dope with the exception of Drake on it...if he stays in his lane he will have a solid career if he doesnt abandon his core fanbase.

I don't think its possible to have long successful careers in rap anymore. In the information age, as soon as you become the "hot" shit you will have your whole life dissected and torn apart. It's not only about making good music, it's about never getting robbed, never getting beat up, never taking an "L" ever. That's impossible to do in today's times.

Any rapper that is coming out in 2011 or 2012 forward, is going to have hard time having "long career" in the Jay-z, Eminem, definition of long.
