Well technically, Prince did sample or replay the guitar lick at the beginning of his hit song Kiss, from Papa's Got A Brand New Bag.

And I read and also heard it for myself, that Prince use a bassline or other elements of that song Way Down In The Hole (same song the wire used as its theme), in another one of his hit songs, i think it was around the diamond & pearls era.

... But Prince it musically thoro....so he gets a pass.

There's nothing genius about taking as much time as you want find a very good pre existing song that someone else already created with their own creative mind, organizing incredible melodies by using many musicians which Kanye only had to redo from a single record . That's not genius
