Let's be real here. There is still racism in the NFL and among fans. There are still doubts about the abilities of black coaches. In this context, I'll be supporting Tomlin and the Steelers 100%. I would do the same thing even if I were a fan of the Packers.

Do you think it is OK for blacks to support the Packers?

as a Cowboys fan I can't root for the Steelers to get their 7th Superbowl so I'm rooting for the Packers

So you're putting your Cowboys' fandom above race?

in this case yeah it's not like Mike Tomlin doesn't already have a ring if he was being slighted and not respected as an elite coach I would root for him

I'm rooting for the packers cuz ima ravens fan and I wanna see Aaron Rodgers get off of Brett Favre's shadow by winning a superbowl of his own

The premise of this thread is ridiculous. If you understand that race issues are more important than sports then you should understand that "fandom" isn't an issue that determines one's commitment to racial matters affecting one's race. It's just sports.

If Tomlin calls a perfect game his team can still execute poorly.

Also, as a fan of another team I DGAF who wins, I just want to see a good game.

Next point: Tomlin already won a Super Bowl

Word, I can't help but think "Ducktales" whenever I see a black so-called Packers fan (especially outside of Wisconsin). I didn't start watching football last year and I remember the Packers down years (even WITH Favre) and that's when you can tell who supports a team or not. I didn't see any Packers fans right after Favre left in those years right before his last year there. But hey, Bandwagon fans are like Fags, I've come to accept the fact that they are real and you can't do shit about'em. All i can do is make sure I keep a dick out of my mouth. lol

I'm not saying that you're lacking in commitment if you don't support the Packers. I'm asking what y'all think. I know I personally couldn't support a white coach over a black coach in the SB, but I'm asking for your opinions. (To be clear, after thinking about it some more I may still conclude that it's not OK for any black to support a white coach over a black one.)

Do you think it would benefit blacks (if only black coaches) if Tomlin won? I think so.

If Tomlin won again, that would help blacks too. It would make it harder for people to dismiss his first win.

I definitely think it's ok to root against a team that is coached by a black man. Everything you support (in terms of sports) doesn't have to be influenced by racial loyalty. It wouldn't even make sense in a team sport when the head coach is just one person. What if the Packers had a black quarterback? (I know, win/win I guess lol).

To be clear, I have no problem with a black man who feels the need to root for black people in sports. I do have a problem with black man who'll call another black man WRONG for rooting against a team coached by a black man. As I said before, it's sports...not that serious...and fans are just that...fans.

For the record, I am a fan of Tomlin as a coach. I'm also excited about the job Raheem Morris is doing in TB although I'm not a fan of the Steelers or Bucs.

I can't cosign that at all. To me it's more about the players than the coach; however, if I don't care for either team, then I'm going for the black coach.
