*thinks back to when i went to see j.cole in austin, he said "what yall wanna hear", i said "not that workout shit*. you should've seen the way the crowd looked @ me, i swear the whole damn place was silent just long enough to hear me say that..... Smdh. I actually don't mind the song now. I'm still pissed of @ him hyping up a kanye sample and me thinking i was gonna hear some epic shit and then i heard workout. Ahh well props on his success he deserves it.

song was never that bad to begin with, especially for it being a single..ppl on here was actin like it flopped just because it didn't blow up immediately..same thing happened with My Last, it took a minute to pop but once it did it was huge..

Certified Gold

I never understood why people were saying J Cole went #1 without a hit song, "Work Out" has been climbing up the charts every since it dropped. Like someone said, it's top 15 single now, that's a hit song period. It's also Gold as someone mentioned. Honestly though he can thank Paula Abdul cause "Straight up" was a #1 hit in the 80's so the hook is very catchy and people remember it.

Yup..........The boy Cole dun good tho.....

It always was one...I told niggas that song was not bad, it just wasn't gettin pushed...The verses were the only wack part, but eventually you just stop givin a fuck when you bouncin to it...

yeah pretty much!

most modern releases are either a hit or its not pretty instantly but this one was bubbling under for a minute and eventually broke out. I dont care for any tune that does an interlopation of any old Paula Abdul songs "Straight Up Now tell me" which went #1 back in 1989 but they know that anything that was a hit in the past can be a hit again if its updated to today. sort of like Beautiful Girls (Suicidal) reworked a #1 hit in the past (Stand By Me) by Ben E King!
