The content on BP and The Black Album is very interchangable. But those sounds on those records aren't splitting images of each other. Momma Loves Me doesn't mirror My 1st Song. Izzo doesn't mirror Encore. etc.

Here's another example. Wale had the same content before he signed with MMG, but he began to run with a new sound. But because he began running with a new sound (e.g. 600 Benz) certain people claimed he "changed". He addressed that in an interview.

I remember hearing Jockin Jay-Z on the BX41 when it first came out hoping it wouldn't make the album.

I was so disappointed when I heard BP3 because AG was such a great album. The lyrics and beats and overall concept of AG just seemed 10x better than BP3. I wouldn't want Jay to talk about selling drugs, but I feel much more effort was put into AG. And BP3 the weakest album in Jay's catalogue imo.

I do like DOA, Run This Town and Alicia Key's singing on Empire State Of Mind though.

Thing is........ all Jay-Z albums are different. Coming off AG, I didnt know what to expect with the BP3. But I knew it wouldnt be the same. I enjoyed it more than Kingdom Come. I thought he was spittin but to each is own. Ima add Hate to that list of wack Bp3 songs.

Weakest album in his catalog in my opinion is BP2 actually.

I agree and I've been saying this for the last few months. Ross rap construction, flow patterns, lyrics, and beats are sounding very similar from one song to the next.
