there is nothing wrong with only liking hip hop.... it just means that you are not that big a fan of music because if you are a true music fan you know good music when you hear it and that sound transcends genres.... I mean to only be a fan of hip hop is closed-minded which isnt necessarily a bad thing it just shows where music ranks in said person's life

An all black music diet will do wonders for you.

yea it'll do negative wonders for your respect of other from different walks of life and being open minded to all good music no matter the color of skin of the person who makes it.... do what you do but just know your missing out on a lot of classic, timeless music with a mind state like that

Black music is music that black people created , are Eminem's songs white music ? No because he does rap and it's black music but everyone is allowed to listen to it though. Pretty much all good genres are black music, Rock is originally black music , Soul , Reggae , Rap/Hiphop. I can't be missing out on a lot when you listen to that.

i took your saying black music more literal as in you only listen to black artists... i dont really agree with ur definition of black music.... just cause a black person pioneered certain genres doesnt make it black music..... it makes it a diff. genre of music..... with that thought process basketball is a white man's sport... and as you know, music and sports dont belong to a race of people, it belongs to anyone who has a passion for it, respects it, and puts their own bit of personality and style into it..... when you put something as pure as music into a racial category like that it downplays what musical art is all about.... individualism and unifying through expressionism

Do u understand Black ppl started Rock & Roll? R&B? Doo Wop? Jazz? and Hip Hop?

i am very familar with the roots of different genres of music.... more so than most others i come across.... that doesn't mean it belongs to black people.... i guarantee if you found the black people who are responsible for each of those genres of music, their goal was not to make music that only their race could enjoy and express themselves with..... by calling it black music you are saying it belongs to a certain race which i wholeheartedly disagree with.... i am a music lover to the fullest degree.... i am white and i live breathe and sleep hip hop.... i know its roots, i know the elements i know the innovators of each particular style of hip hop and region of the country in which they come from.... i know why it started but i also know what it has become.... i am a huge jazz fan.... ive been to jazz fest in new orleans the last 5 years and jazz is my favorite type of musical concert.... i know where it started and who the innovators are... the best at their particular instruments whether it be strings, percussion, or horns.... same with rock music..... i am a fan of excellent, passionate music period. And as a true fan of music i have educated myself an continue to... as a true fan of music i will tell you that it doesn't belong to a race... it belongs to people like me who eat sleep and breathe that shit... i'll give any race their due props, respect and admiration for being musically inclined enough to breed a whole new genre knowing they did this to feed their own musical hunger and have their voice heard and for people like ME to enjoy it....

i think those who only listen to any one genre of music are missing out on a lot of good stuff, hip hop or otherwise.

For me, Rock and hip hop >>>>>>>>>>>>>

I can appreciate all kinds of music, including symphony/orchestra stuff (no vocals)....but any vocal-driven song professing love for someone else is nauseating imo.

I listen to everything and have been this way since high school. I just like music. Hip hop is my favorite genre but I appreciate all types of music and my ipod has everything in it. I don't think its really good to listen to just one type of music. Especially if you like music. You just selling yourself short.

Good for you, man.

I invite to check up n the works of Gustav Holst, Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach. Hell, John Williams is an excellent composer.

I used to listen to nothing But hip hop. But around 5-6 years ago I began expanding my musical horizons. Hip hop is still my favorite but I like types of music. IMO I don't think it's good to like ONE genre of music.
What do you think?

I like:

Marvin Gaye
U2
New edition
jimi Hendrix
bob Marley
AC DC
led Zeppelin
green day
radiohead
oasis
Tim McGraw
Whitney Houston
daughtry
goo goo dolls
Nirvana
John Lennon

That's off the top of my head, there's more but the point is I'm a hip hop fan at heart but I think you should have a balanced diet of music

Tim McGraw. Lmfao

lmao lmao

Is your favorite rapper Gorilla Zoe too?

Edit: But I listen to everything. I dabble in electronica, just got back to Hip-hop after a classic/ indie rock kick. Was listening to a lot of old soul and funk shit earlier this year.
