People still refuse to give Em his props.

Niggas just can't accept that the white dude from the trailer park is better than their favorite black rappers. Even in this thread, I see people saying "Em has no classics", but the dude has three critically acclaimed, best selling albums. What else does he need to do?

Don't pretend to be that naive son.

Your running in circles saying the same thing but neglected to answer my question. When we look back on the Careers of certain rappers it's going to be clear who has what. We'll look back and see how 50 came in like a tornado and dropped the classic Get Rich and dominated the mixtape scene, How in retrospect people noticed Jay's RD is a classic as well as when he dropped the blueprint on the game (some people will even say Black Album and AG), Nas when he dropped iLLmatic and re-emerged in the game with Stillmatic. Then when it comes to Em most will look back and see how he came in the game like a tornado and dropped the classic MMLP. Muhfuckas aint gonna be talkin about no Slim Shady LP or Eminem Show. Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

Running in circles? I'm giving you an honest answer as to why Em still doesn't get the props that, judging by his career, he deserves. No doubt. He's white. And that's the problem with his attaining GOAT status. Niggas do not want to see a white rapper do better than their favorite black rappers. It's obvious.

Niggas will not say that Em has more than one classic LP (which is contradicted by the industry's critics and consumers), because then he'll somehow rank with the likes of Nas and Jay, as being a highly elite emcee with multiple classic albums. And niggas will NOT give Em that status. It won't happen. If he were black, it'd be a different story. But because he's white, people don't want to give him that high ranking.

One classic seems to be enough for whitey. Anymore after that, he'll be the only white rapper worth mentioning alongside other GOAT contenders, based on catalog, and that would just be blasphemy.

Eminem wouldn't even call all those albums Classics. You're officially a stan. I'll take your words with a grain of salt from here on out.

The fuck? I don't care what Em, the magazines, or u as hip hop says. Em has 5 classic, and that's final. U can say what u want. There's no such thing as a stan or hater, it's all opinions.

That's the objective way to look at, even though the industry disagrees.

You're still playing naive, either way though.

Why are you trying to deny the fact that niggas are bitter because Em has had a better career than their favorite black rappers?

You and this fuckin INDUSTRY talk. Kill that, that's the only leg you have to stand on. Fact is when you're surrounded by the ACTUAL hip hop community, Everyone is telling you different.

And you don't think Em's race has anything to do with that?

And Hip Hop community...like the people in this thread? LOL.

I'll take XXL, E. Weekly, and Slant Magazine over gee757 anyday of the week.

Yep, exactly like people in this thread (your just mad because they don't agree with you) or any other hip hop thread you can find. The voice of the people/streets > What a publication says. XXL reviews gave that bullshit Ghostface RnB album the same score as the Slaughterhouse album and a higher score than Blackout 2. So if that's what you wanna place your faith in to make you sleep better at night.

I think white people play the race card more when it comes to Eminem on some "Please accept him" type shit. For me and alot of other people, it's not even about that. For example, If someone was to make a "Big Pun is the GOAT" thread it would get more hate than love. Even though he was super lyrical and had a 1 great/classic album under his belt (like eminem), You gotta do more than have a nice flow and rapidly throw words together to get that title. So where would the argument be in that case? That black people are racist against puerto ricans now too?

Y'all kill me with this shit.

Where would Em rank on your personal GOAT list, if he ranks at all? I'm just curious.

You seem like one of them niggas who just genuinely don't like Em's subject matter, which is cool. But we can't deny what he has accomplished musically.

It's cool if you truthfully don't like his shit. But let's not get into hatin' territory here.

Bottom of my top 10.

The major difference between Em and Pun is that Em's music has been critically lauded and heavily revered. Em is backed by high industry acclaim and massive commercial success. Just look at every piece of accolade he has received, from '99 til now. Pun may have been a beast lyrically, but his music is far from being laudable...atleast not as laudable as Em's. That's a fact.

He has one classic under his belt, with Capital Punishment. But if you compare that album with an album like TES, you'll see that Em's album is more well received.

That's why I feel like niggas is hatin. Em has too much in his favor to not be mentioned amongst the GOATS.

"His full-length debut Capital Punishment followed in 1998, and was the first album by a solo Latino rapper to go platinum, peaking at #5 on the Billboard 200. Capital Punishment was also nominated for a Grammy, but lost out on the award to Jay-Z's Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life."

Pun has received his due as well. You're beating this critically acclaimed horse to the ground my man. And how are we going to compare accolades to someone who's career was cut short? Stop it man.

Biggie's career was cut short, too...as was Pac's. But both have received industry acclaim just as high as Em, if not higher.

If Big Pun's music was more critically lauded, he'd have a case for GOAT. But it isn't.

I swear I'm reading the same words from you every time you post that it's starting to lose meaning. You seem to disregard that fact that Pun was up for a GRAMMY without the help of a machine behind him. He had a single that put the summer on smash "Still not a player" and that song "Deep Cover" with the infamous "dead in the middle of italy" line. Critical acclaim isn't the sole reason why Biggie is considered a GOAT and pun isn't. It's because Biggie showed us versatility in his music and rapped about shit the core hip hop audience could connect with. It's because he has a classic album as well as a great follow up. It's because his music stands the test of time (you think you'll hear old eminem cuts on the radio? lol). That's why.

theres no doubt about it, race does play an issue. dependin on what group of ppl you talkin to. for the groups into that hardcore hustlin clappin cats all day type niggas think eminem is a clown. they really dont fuck with white ppl lol. think about it.... you see how white ppl who dont grow up around black ppl dont trust them.. goes both ways obviously. lol we all human.

but any sensible cat that really listens to lyrics know that the way eminem cares about the craft that much to contruct his lyrics in that manner is very impressive and its def not easy. yeah if you really try to break some of his lyrics down it dont have a particular meaning all the time but not enough for some ppl to hate THAT much. seriously.... he made stan, till i collapse, say goodbye to hollywood, lose yourself, the way i am.

he even had diff flows back then imagine how he got mad new flows now. socially conscious on who knew, square dance put bitches in they place on superman. mad diff shit he dont make crazy white boy references lol.

real talk, pretty much all the rappers on this board who yall praise today either wanna be associated with em in some way or worked with him already and gave him props as one of the best in the game. they know the talent he got. and if niggas like jigga, fab, mos def and black thought can look pass his subject matter why cant yall? it really aint that serious grow up kids lol.

Jay or Nas alternate that role given what day of the week it is.

I've noticed that most of the niggas that like to dismiss Em are mostly fans of Jay and Nas.

Not saying that you're a part of that, but it's just something I've observed.

Jay and Nas seem to be held as the most high emcees, elite, with multiple classics, longevity, and high industry acclaim.

But, career wise and talent wise, Em is right up there with them.
