Kenneth Chandler Anderson, 22, was arrested Thursday night after detectives questioned him and served a search warrant at his home, said Sgt. Lisa Bowman, a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department.

Subway worker tied, sexually assaulted inside Sac County shop

Bowman said the victim at Subway was tied up, badly beaten and raped, but had no idea of her attacker’s identity because he was fully covered.

“There was not one part of him that could be recognizable other than his stature,” Bowman said.

The victim was attacked inside the store on Auburn Boulevard and Palm Avenue as she arrived for work before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday to get ready to open.

The Subway victim was shocked to learn her alleged attacker was identified as Anderson, whom she knows as her longtime co-worker.

Anderson's bail is set at $1 million. He will be arraigned Tuesday.

A series of three previous rapes, which started last fall, remain unsolved. Detectives said sketches of the suspect in those incidents, which are all believed to be tied to one person, look strikingly similar to Anderson.

Bowman said the rape at Subway is also similar in other ways to the other three. But Bowman said DNA evidence will determine whether they are connected.

“I would venture to say it’s a strong possibility, based on not just the location of these crimes, but the act of violence in each of those crimes, as well as the sexual acts and the violent beatings to each and every one of those victims,” Bowman said.

The prior incidents centered around Interstate 80 and Madison Avenue and occurred in September, December and January.

Victims were dragged from public streets and raped, at least twice, behind brush near highway ramps.
