Yea they do. All the Caribbean is fucked. But Puerto Rico is an American territory. If Hawaii or Guam got destroyed it's not unreasonable for people to say it's ridiculous why celebs are doing more than the govt

Didnt think i had to...I thought the point was clear that just because some islands are in the middle of the ocean and not attached to the continental US they shouldn't be ignored or the citizens treated as less than "American"

I think his point is that, Hawaii is an actual state (like one of the stars on our flag) and Guam & Puerto Rico are US Territories, meaning they don't have full state power. Residents of Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories do not have voting representation in the United States Congress, and are not entitled to electoral votes for the President. But they can participate in the presidential primary process. They also have their own local government (generally appointed by the US Federal Government) and laws, they are not subjected to full US rule.

So Hawaiians are 100% American Citizens, but Guam, PR, Virgin Islands, Samoa - while they are 'citizens' with US passports its a bit more complicated.
