just cause you didnt listened to them at all dont mean they aint good, it just means you're an ignorant idiot.

Lmao really? yall niggas is as dumb and oppressive as the kkk.

And pun aint wack, but big is overrated, so is the rest of them niggas t/s named, except maybe rakim.

Yall little internet hip hop philosophy is so lame.

Did the south stop the east from making good music?

they get respect because some of them are pioneers that helped paved the way for current stars.

guess they dont know that the likes of em, jay, nas, styles p and a host of others borrowed from the likes of g rap, kane, rakim, masta ace,.....only in hip hop do those that paved the way get shunned......I'll be the first to admit that nas, jay and a few others have passed some of these cats but to dismiss the pioneers is just ridiculous

whoa big pun is wack? damn. i can understand your comparison old vs new generation , but some old rappers who are considered legends have records that actually hold up right now in my opinion.

Its fucking ridiculous how much more love rappers like Rakim, Kool Mo Dee, KRs1, BDK, Big Pun (wack!), Biggie (overrated)!, RUN DMC (....wiggedy wack), even Sugar Hill Gang & niggas like that who really weren't even that nice get mad props for GOAT status... over Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, Kanye, even a T.I. or Wayne who have dominated this era of true competition and revolutionized Rap music as much if not more than any of them niggas... I don't want to hurt any of yall old heads but its truth almost all them niggas couldn't hang in today's rap or have even made as much quality music as a Jay or Kanye.. But its like hip hop fans never wanna give just due to our rappers which is just unfair...

Half them old niggas (or Dead niggas) are still tryna rap and aint been looked out for about 15 years... but people have the nerve to say Jay-Z or Em has to do more to pass them niggas when if you compare lyric wise and what not are killing off them old heads... I'm sure yall understand where I'm getting at... Its cool if you a legend and u were here first but that shyt don't mean players who have shown and proved consistently haven't passed up them niggas... The old and the dead are getting way too much credit now and it needs to end!

you prolly bout 18 huh?

here's the prob....since 96/97 lyricism has been sacrificed as the hip hop buying community decided they prefer artists over lyricists....for example how in the world can the blueprint be a better and more influential lp than reasonable doubt or american gangster? people who actually buy hip hop don't care as much about how complicated or how many syllables you can get to rhyme as they do about you delivering a great song......because of that your best emcees aren't your hottest....it's your artists that are the hottest.........ross makes good songs he would be killed by a lupe....i'd put money that lupe could hand kool g rap, rakim, kane, kool moe dee, melle mel rhyme for rhyme.....he could go 16 for 16 with a Jay or Em or Kanye or wayne or t.i. but those guys would make a better song and therefore nobody would remember what lupe spit cause they keep hitting reply on their shit

but in turns of greatest all time....just cause you can spit or you make songs doesn't mean your the greatest.....i also don't believe a goat should be a favorite mc either.....tupac hasn't inspired me to do anything in my life like jay's work has.....i've seen too many minds wasted on hearing thug life only to scream thug life after they get shot and fail to provide for their family.........but i know tupac is def one of the most important emcees to hip hop as a genre and culture he's def top 3 to me because of that and the message he was trying to deliver.....older emcees provided the template for newer emcees so it's the reality that they will be high on the list no rakim, you get no nas or jay or pac, if you don't either of those three you don't get the lil wayne, kanye, ti or lupe that you have today....no kanye you prob don't have a lupe, kid cudi, b.o.b, big sean or a succesful common.....real talk

the problem is these newer rappers are forced to follow a protical to sell (make a song for the girls or the ignoraant act like u sell made drugs and blah blah blah)

vs back in the 90;s u sold records b/c u was actually had something to say, they had talent, not a look or act.

TS is buggin!!! the ol heads you speak of are what the new artist eat off of. you can say anyone is wack cause thats your opinion, but any artist you named who is gettin it now will say run-dmc, pun, ect. are the reason they rap, or why they are in this game. you sound like a rap fan. someone who knows next to nothing about hiphop. 20 years ago you would buy a Hammer tape over gangstar. kriss-kross over Kool G Rap.

your sick.

Cosign some of what you're saying, but you took it too far naming TI, Kanye, Em, and Wayne. Those 4 rappers are nowhere near the GOAT list. They don't have the catalog, the skills, and the longevity. Also, BDK, Rakim, and Kool Mo Dee are incredibly dope. Especially BDK.

... I do agree on some level that a lot of these older (and dead) rappers get put on a pedestal. I agree Big Pun is hella wack, Biggie is overrated, KRS-One is average, DMC is average etc.

I agree that most of the old school rappers are overblown, they were not that skilled honestly. I don't care to call names but you definitely named some of them. It's the internet though; if a bunch of bloggers call you a clown for this thread its all good in most eyes. I disagree on you being a clown and think your opinion is a valid one to those people that can call it like it is and move on. I'm out, you speak the truth on some levels.

Cosizzle. People on here acting like KRS-One is on the same level as a Nas. SMH.

i see where TS is comin from, some are really overrated today because they werent technical rappers. they were just the first ones really doing it so it was a lot more impressive

but i love Kool G Rap, Rakim. I always felt like LL was really simple even tho i enjoy a lot of his songs. I would never call LL the GOAT like some ppl do

I would give LL the GOAT title before Rakim and well before I even think of Kool G Rap.
