I think that Blue/Gold team was probably the best X-Men team incarnation.
My second choice would be the Bryne/Claremont era team. U had Jean Grey's Phoenix/Dark Phoenix character. Dark Phoenix alone = grand opening, grand closing for most hero or villain teams.
Maybe cuz I'm partial to the original X-Men team, but I love the original X-factor team, especially when Warren became Archangel.

Currently reading the Blue & Gold team right around the time when Generation X began. I'd say I like this team best so far.

blue and gold, but throw in nightcrawler even though he was in excalibur that time, and take out psylocke because I just never cared for her, and that would be the perfect xmen roster.

no because I never cared for her either. rather put in jubilee just because she was in the fox cartoon

Oh I didn't realize you added him due to preference of character. Jubilee pretty much was on the blue & gold for a while anyway.

The Blue and Gold teams were the prototypical x team of the 90's so my nostalgia leans that way.....
But Astonishing is what made me care about the x men enough to actually buy the whole Whedon AXM run.
