I think we should stop talking about iggy though... I don't know why people are so surprised she exists...she's a modern day minstrel... like al jolson... and there's gonna be curiosity around that... but she ain't hip hop...

I watched her perform for the first time on snl last night... her set was so choreographed and hyper-sexualized and there was so many dancers on stage (male and female) it reminded me of Britney Spears... she wants to be Beyoncé so bad but she's willa ford at best... if she wins any awards it says more about the shows themselves than anything... she's pop not hiphop...

and in awhile she fall from the lime light be it because of her bland output or her willfully ignorant mouth... and the most we'll see of her ass will be on some reality TV show in a love triangle between j kwon and mims...

I don't see why people mad at banks. She's been pretty consistent. The first time she spoke out is when she saw that they put some random white girl on XXL for the freshmen when she wasn't really making no noise like banks. Yeah it may be hate, but she had a point. That was the first female MC that was on that list and it was on the heals of Macklemore. She also mentioned from the jump that shorty was a minstrel with a fake accent and she called her self a run away slave master. If it was a black girl on the cover, i'm sure you wouldn't have heard a peep. Or maybe you would idk. I look at this as a standalone issue. Fuck all the twitter shit. She shed light on a situation that affects all hiphop when they start to pump artist like this and put them on top of the genre. Sure it may not matter, but it affects the history and has a reminiscence of how they always did our people. She may be a bird, arguing with her in defense of iggy is drawing attention away from an issue that should be looked at. Appropriation of our culture and insult has been an issue since they through Vanilla Ice out the building. We can point fingers at black lames at the same time.

I think having a discussion about the importance identity and cultural background is very important for hip hop. in terms of staying true to the roots and teaching the youngins about the beginnings too.

Just the fact that you are rapping in your songs doesnt make you hip hop. Theres still an unwritten rule that you have to be real and have to identify with the movement for you to be accepted and thats what gives hip hop ist uniqueness compared to every other genre.

That being said I would prefer if they all would put it in raps.
