im in my 30's and old enough to remember hearing rap on record from the start when Rappers Delight came out and ive been a fan of hip hop in all its peaks and valleys and all its successes and let downs. I believe that the decade of 2000-2009 will go down as the most lame era ever in which lyricism took a backseat to chants, ab libs, a 808 bass drum, and hooks.. but listening to the substance of it i wasnt hearing anything like Nas on Illmatic not even close. i hope 2010-2019 is better .
Feels like Rap got stuck on the corner slanging crack. There were too many stories of that experience in addition many of those telling that story werent that good. slow flows, unimaginative flows, cliche' flows (you could guess what the ryhme would be before they say it) yes TRIGGA ryhmes with NIGGA. you are killing my intelligence. The standard of whats hot went down the toilet. if you are a nationally recognized rap act i expect to hear something amazing that makes me hit the rewind button but im just not hearing that from most of these rap dudes especially those under 30!!
So in saying that which rap act would NOT be famous if the standard was higher and the world had your standard?

The Nominees:
GUCCI MANE - Raps so slow might make me fall asleep behind the wheel. outshined by every guest rappers on his releases. remember Freaky Girl. Just chalk it up to a Ludacris Record he destroyed Gucci on his own shyt
PLIES - rhymes even slower than Gucci with no imagination and its not even clever like Jeezy. i never got it about dude. he sucks and stinks like hot garbage
SOULJA BOY - Had his one novelty hit and shouldve just went away but kept on releasing music. The first 90's born rapper with a hit, if this is what his generation has to offer I would rather fuck a herion shooting crack whore with no rubber before i listen to anymore of this mess
LIL WAYNE - On the real hes clever and sounds good on mixtapes but his style is so random that it dont make sense 90% of the time. I guess hes the spokesman of a lost generation that i dont belong to. he shouldve never blew up this large
WAKA FLOCKA - Youd think that if you chose a career as a rapper youd learn how to rap. But I guess skills arent required.
MIKE JONES - Had nuttin to say other than his name was Mike Jones. I hope his next record gets a permament push back to NEVER!
SHAWTY LO - I liked the Beats I just wish a better rapper was spitting on them. He sounds like someones drunk ass uncle on a karaoke machine
LIL B - If you release a record called IM GAY for shock value then you are such an idiot i wouldnt let you shine my shoes.
DRAKE - Below average rappers and below average singer but yet he keeps doing both. i guess this is what Al B Sure wouldve looked like if he tried to rap.
