Africa is a beautiful continent that has many different cultures... it is hardly homogeneous.

I have been fortunate enough to spend time in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Madagascar, Sudan, and Egypt over the years. The different experiences that I have had there and the people that I have met there have changed my life.

As a white person, I became used to being called "obroni" or "Mzungu" as it is more of a descriptive term than a slur or an insult. However, a few black guys from the States that I met during my travels used to get vexxed because the local Africans would call them that as well. Similar to calling someone an "oreo cookie", I guess... they would usually say it with a mischievous smile so I think the local African people were just trying to get a reaction from them for jokes.

I wish everyone who has the means to do it would travel to a few different places around the world and try to broaden their horizons. Try to travel outside of your comfort zone, as well. If your background is, for example, Scottish, and you live in the United States, sure it is cool to travel to Scotland to trace your roots and culture. But why not think outside the box and travel to China or India and try to immerse yourself in a culture completely different from your own. Don't just hang out there with other people travelling from your home country... try to get off the beaten path and see things through the lives of the local people.

CNN, Fox News, and the other major media outlets have sold you a lie about what is going on in the world.

Get out there and see the truth with your own eyes...

Remember, Athens was once a superpower too, Rome was once a superpower too, Babylon was once a superpower too, Timbukto was as well...

I'd move to Ghana or one of the smaller democratic countries there. I think said plan would be a disaster though. African Americans have way to many social dilemmas.

If your going to move to any country in Africa I'd recommend that you study the culture, dialect, and people religiously.

Despite there being rapid economic growth, life in many countries in Africa is still what we'd consider hard. Prepare for electricity to be off during certain periods of the day. The unemployment is ridiculously high because in many places there is simply NO work. Which means there isn't much tax base, which further means that proper infrastructure and public services are few. If you aren't prepared to live like the locals and be of the locals than stay in America.

The benefit is that you'll have your peace of mind. You aren't constantly being scrutinized like you are in America because of your skin color. People may be a little xenophobic but it won't be because of the color of your skin. This is why I emphasized studying the various dynamics of that culture.

The cows on a farm help make the farmer rich but the farmer does not treat the cow as an equal. Black people in America are cows. Black people did not build America no more than the cows build the farm. Don't believe the hype

This is and will be the only problem a black man from America will face...simply put, African-Americans from the USA lack social etiquette!

For what? A pat on the head? Sundays off? A spot in the house?

@dreadlockrasta

Respect.

I have Ghana stories for days...haha. Wonderful place, wonderful people.

A bit off topic, but this commercial from when Ghana was changing to the new Cedi became our anthem.

The funkiest commercial song ever for something as boring as currency conversion:

Living in Japan, you realized that americans are fucking rude as hell and black americans are pushy, always want things in their control, don't have the mannerisms of proper conduct. There are reasons why they have certain customs and you have to understand them, you don't control or dictate what they should do and that's what americans are typically known to do. Immigrants understand this and do this, but americans rather not or americanized the culture.

Lmfao....Oh ho Ghana! They find joy in the most minute of things, it's infectious really....hahahaha but yea the people make the country very vibrant. They may not have much but they will share with you and smile doing it.

I don't know why this is but I see it among many of my people. The egos are way too high and humility too little.

Along with this you have brothers and sisters who have a really fucked up sense of self. Our self hatred is subconscious and would eventually manifest itself in some way, shape or form.
